This certainly puts all of our game day criticism in its proper perspective. What a sad day in Windsor and throughout the OHL. As a parent of three grown sons, I cannot imagine what his family must be going through.

I was just reading about that & my heart dropped. I feel incredibly sad right now. Was a great guy & a great player. RIP Mickey!

Just saw the article myself on the NOOF. Truely a sad day for the entire Ontario Hockey League. Mickey was one hell of a hockey player and an even better human being. Rest in Peace, Mickey.

how awful...it's bad enough when someone dies but when it's someone who has fans/kids looking up to him as a athlete and role model it's even worse. Myself and my office co-workers, whom i've told, send our thoughts and prayers to his family.

I just read his favorite nonhockey team was the Detroit Tigers. Our prayers are with he and his family.

I just about fell out of my chair when I saw this thread and then went to the NOOF to see what was posted there. This really hits home for me as I have a 22 year old son and an 18 year son, both who played hockey for many years. This certainly puts life in perspective. Hug your kids and tell them you love them because you just never know what might happen. My condolences to the Renaud family and the Windsor Spitfires organization.

Has a cause of death been determined yet? Don't have time to read through all the NOOF pages.

Has a cause of death been determined yet? Don't have time to read through all the NOOF pages. i haven't read them but I know they said they were going to do an autopsy which i believe takes at minimum a few days up to a week or two, depending on how busy the medical examiner is.

Accroding to the NOOF the autopsy has been done.
"An autopsy has been completed on a popular young hockey player from Windsor, Ont., but it may be months before the exact cause of his sudden death will be known.
Mickey Renaud, the captain of the OHL Windsor Spitfires, died Monday at age 19 after collapsing at his home.
"Under the Ontario Coroner's Act, the autopsy results will be released to the family only," Coroner Dr. David Aden said in an interview today. "
The Spits have scheduled a press conference for 4:-5pm for media only.

Mickey was on the big screen TV at Windsor Arena last Thursday night, delivering a public service message of some sort. Also, there was a young lad named Renaud playing Tim-Bits hockey between periods of the game. I wondered at the time if it was Mickey's brother (he does have a brother).
Absolutely EVERYTHING I've heard about Mickey was good. He'll surely be an all-star on that team up above.
