Our old pal Patrick Asselin and the Oshawa Generals return to the Dow tonight as the Spirit wrap up arguably one of the toughest weekends of the season. I am already not entirely liking the circumstances coming into this game, as the Spirit are playing their 3rd game in 3 nights, while the Generals have not played since Wednesday. But we've got a lot of momentum, and hopefully that will carry over from our big win last night. Oshawa defeated Saginaw 4-2 in a very close game back on December 6. The Generals still feature phenom John Tavares as well, although his goal production is way down this year (but the assist production is way up). The only question that remains is if anyone will be throwing GM Reports onto the ice after the first Spirit goal Go Spirit!

Just about a minute into the game and the Spirit already have a 2-0 lead! McDonough got the first one followed by Murovich.
Also, Pasquale is in net tonight. Looks like Coach Watson has a lot of confidence in him heading down the stretch.

7:39 to go in the 1st...2-0 Spirit. We've had 4 powerplays this period (including a 5-on-3 for over a minute and a half) while Oshawa has had none, so you know the next one is probably on us.
EDIT: Right as a finish typing this, the Spirit take 2 penalties...so a 5-on-3 powerplay for 2 minutes coming up for Oshawa.

Brett MacLean scores with 9 seconds left on the 5-on-3 to make it 2-1 Saginaw. That's his 51st on the season.
And right off the faceoff we take another penalty.

End of the first period...Spirit up 2-1. Much like last night we've pretty much dominated this game 5-on-5 by the sounds of it. We just got to stay out of the box.
Comrie also picked up a 10 minute misconduct for the 2nd night in a row. Asselin picked up an assist on the MacLean goal.

Saginaw goes on to win tonight's game by a 6-4 final. What a weekend for the Spirit! But of course, it looks like we won't be getting any help, as it looks like Guelph and Sarnia will both pick up victories and Plymouth has already been assured of a point as the Whalers and the Soo are currently in a shootout. But we got the win so we'll be keeping pace. Attendance tonight was a sellout of 5527 according to the OHL scoresheet. www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=15044

Continuing on my theme of "negativity" as alleged last night, the Spirit just held Tavares to 0 points - just the fifth time this year that has happened. He didn't get any points in Owen Sound the other night either.
But then, defense is the Spirit's problem.... isn't it?

Any recap of the Chappell fight? not much really. they basically were tuging at each other trying to get loose and both fell. so id have to say it was a draw.

Yea, I'd say it was a draw too. A great weekend for the Spirit! I'd like to say I really enjoyed the game but the season ticket holders in front of us gave their tickets to 4 drunken buddies. Those idiots couldn't stay in their seats long enough for us to see. Between them going and getting more beer and going to the bathroom...MAD! It's always good to see the Dow full but sometimes the "fans" can be idiots. Rant over :-) Go Spirit!

There were a lot of oblivious people there last night. It's like the Dow folks just pulled random people off the street and stuck them in the seats to fill the place. haha. Oh well, good to see the building packed. Great game too! Good weekend for the Spirit. Let's hope they can keep this streak going through the next tough week.

The thing that impresses me the most about his year's team is that the keep coming back even when they get behind or give up the lead, like last night . Great 3 games in a row against some top teams.
