Well, in case anyone forgot, tonight is our makeup game against the Kingston Frontenacs at the Dow with a 7:11 faceoff time. The game was originally supposed to be played on Friday, November 30, but was postponed due to a bus accident. Saginaw won the first meeting between these two teams, notching a 7-1 victory at Kingston back on October 19. In that game, Tyler Murovich scored a hat trick while Ryan McDonough had 2 goals. Jason Guy (now with the Knights) was in net that night. Sarnia and Guelph are also playing tonight, so let's hope we get some help from the teams playing them. Go Spirit!

Sarnia is playing the Soo--whom they have not beaten this season--and Guelph is playing Kitchener. With any luck at all, we can gain 2 points on both the Sting and the Storm tonight. A win is imperative.

I don't necessarily blame it on being a Wednesday. This game wasn't supposed to be played tonight, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.
2-1 Spirit after 2 periods of play.
Meanwhile, Sarnia is getting pounded by the Soo 8-0 early on in the 3rd, and Guelph is losing to Kitchener 2-1 with about 10 minutes to go. Let's hope these scores hold!

My only guess is that he kept playing with a broken stick, or stayed on the ice after losing his helmet (which can be a penalty in the OHL if I'm not mistaken)...so I'm not sure. Anyone at the game or managed to listen in the 1st care to elaborate?

Out of town update: Kitchener beats Guelph 2-1 in regulation. Soo leads Sarnia 9-0.
EDIT: Soo beats Sarnia 9-0. Looks like it's turning out to be a good night if we do our part!

Someone please explain this: 1 - SAG Combs, 5:00 - Illegal Equipment , 2 min (PP) Combs Helmet came off during a hit, he put it back on right away but something must have been wrong with it? Davis, is there a better ref in the league? And damn, was it cold in there tonight!

The rule is that you immediately leave the ice if your helmet comes off, same as international play. Jack got to his quickly and put it back on, but that's not the rule. We called it before Davis did. I actually felt a LITTLE sorry for Davis tonight. There is nothing that screws up an official and makes him look more like an idiot than his auxiliary people messing up, and I'm talking of course about the people putting the penalties up tonight. Not once but TWICE there were lengthy delays while everyone tried to get things right. None of that was Davis's fault. Having said that--he needs no help to look like an idiot all by himself. OMG!!!! I thought I was going to freeze to death!!! I felt like I was at the Winter Classic. I can't believe the small number of bodies made it THAT much colder!! It wasn't pretty, but it was a big win, as the Soo and Kitchener helped us out with wins. Things will get much tougher Friday night w/ Belleville in town, though. What is it w/ the Spirit not shooting on the PP?? With 1:45 of two man advantage--at least I think that's how long it was, since that was one of the clock snafus--we had one shot on goal. Insane. And I rarely notice things like this--but Combs and Ryan McD's last 3 shifts lasted 1:50, 1:30 (altho there was a 2 on 1 break at the end of this one) and 1:45, by my clock watching. Aren't those long shifts for the end of a game, or was there a reason I didn't catch? Bad news about Breen--indefinite, broken jaw. Although we saw him upstairs talking to people, so it doesn't look like a Dan Cleary-broken jaw. Glad to see Sol get some PT, but hate it to be at Breen's expense. Kudoes to Sol for his excellent use of cliches in his first OHL interview between periods!! And Pasquale apparently has a mild concussion and is day-to-day, hence Lepera's appearance (at least we know Joe is still alive!!) As the radio says, chalk another one up in the Spirit win column. Keep it going this weekend, boys.
