DJ Busdecker gets his first AHL goal yesterday. It was a bit of a strange game to watch. They played the game in an arena that reminded me of the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena. Makes sense I guess with no fans there is no real need to use a bigger facility. The ice was the same size. Regardless, conrats DJ.

Former Spirit Kyle Flemington working the Wings game today. Kyle is regarded as a serious rising star in hockey officiating circles, and he’s living up to it. It took him just over 3 years to make the jump to an AHL/NHL contract—the speed of light. Both he and Justin Kea should have excellent careers ahead of them. As a former official (although not in hockey), I’m as excited for these two as I am for a guy who makes it to the Show as a player.

Ryan MacLeod is making his NHL debut with the Oilers tonight. For those of you who subscribe to The Athletic, Daniel Nugent-Bowman has a great story about him today. Sound like the kid has been working his tail off. Good for him.

Congrats to netminder Eddie Pasquale, who will be on the Canadian Olympic Team next month in Beijing. He's been playing in the KHL the past couple of seasons.

If you subscribe to The Athletic, May 30 featured a very complimentary article on Ryan McLeod by Allan Mitchell. Judging by what I saw in the WCF, McLeod took all the criticisms about his game (lack of compete, float,etc) to heart and worked hard to improve them. He should be a big piece of the Oilers’ future plans. Good for him!
