Since we often comment on news about former players, I thought we could combine all of that into one thread. I'll go first. Congratulations to Michael Sgarbossa, who was called up by the Colorado Avalanche this afternoon.( I don't often wish an Av well, but I'll make an exception in this case.) Not bad for a guy who never got drafted!!!

I have a couple of friends in the Cleveland area, and I see their Facebook updates sometimes talking about going to Erie Monsters games. The other day they were commenting on Sgarbossa scoring the game winning goal for them. I got a kick out of that.

Also, Tyler Murovich was called up to Hamilton after playing for the Gwinnett Gladiators last season and much of this season. Scored a goal against Abbotsford on Jan. 15th and has played in four games to date thus far...if he sticks up there I believe I'll make a trip over to Grand Rapids on March 8th to catch him in action.

Tom doesn't look much more fond of talking into a microphone than he did when he was a Spirit!

Jamie Oleksiak is now up with the Dallas Stars. He's obviously good because he played well in the world jrs, played well after we traded him and is now in the NHL but I just thought he looked like a decent defenseman when he was in Saginaw. Maybe it was the adjustment to OHL from NCAA or something. I even talked to Derosier about him at some point and he was really disappointed in him since he was a top NHL pick. Good for Jamie though to make it to the ultimate level!

That link didn't work for me--try this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv78yhxTWJk (there is one character different) Congrats to Brandon--hopefully the first of many. I did not know his older brother played for Penn State. Interesting fact!

I can't stand him, always beating the drum for college hockey and USHL. btw, I've seen his brother play a few times, he could not make the Spirit. Bigger guy, can't skate.

I can't stand him for his pro-Hawks and Pens bias, but that's another story...

Paterson is better than Pasquale, actually thought Mavric Parks was better than Pasquale.
