I hope TW has the boys working on the PP this week. Frightening to think about what the Spirit record would be if they even had an average PP. Penalty kill has not been much better, but you'd think the PP would be at least 20%.
I haven't seen enough games in person to see if it is just the overall plan off attack on the PP or it is just simply not executing. Difficult to blame the coaching staff, but you'd think by now they would have made some type of adjustment. Let's hope it gets better soon, or the ice will be melting away at the Dow by the final week of March.
GO SPIRIT!!!

Going into last night's game, the Spirit were ranked 8th in the PP (19.3%) and 17th in the PK (76.7%). The Sting going 2/5 on the PP didn't help the latter number.

The PP has been at 15.4% since the second half of the season - really really bad. Seems that some selfish play has taken away from what was a pretty good PP the first half of the season.
The Penalty Kill seems to stil be a little confused on the ice.
No doubt Special Teams is the make or break in the play offs....and with our special teams its not going to scare anyone.
Seems like the big clutch games - we really struggle killing penalties.

would the struggles of special teams lately have anything to do with the absence of Steve Cooke?

would the struggles of special teams lately have anything to do with the absence of Steve Cooke? that's an interesting comment but i think it's just coincidence. I think the fact that we've had a really tough schedule including many top teams from the east is the main reason. We're playing good hockey but we're still not quite to the talent level of the top teams in the OHL.
