Tonight the Saginaw Spirit welcome the Sarnia Sting back to the Dow Event Center. Last time these two teams met, it wasn't pretty, with Saginaw losing a miserable game 10-2. However, since then things have changed a bit, with Sarnia now sitting in 8th place in the west, losing six of their last ten. The Spirit have won six of their last 10. We are coming off two losses, one in over-time on Saturday against the Spits and a loss in Plymouth on Sunday. This is our only home game this week.
What do you guys think? I think we've got a good shot at getting the W tonight. Kick the Sting while they are down.
Predictions for tonight: Pasquale in goal. Low attendance due to the Wednesday night game An EXTRA COLD Dow event center, due to the lack of warm bodies Spirit win, 4-2. Mirovich scores.

I agree with every one of your predictions except for Daniels will be in net tonight.

Looking at the upcoming games this weekend, you are probably correct about Daniels. I would guess Pasquale will play in Owen Sound on Saturday and we'll see Daniels once again on Sunday at Kitchner

Daniels will for sure be in net tonight. All games this time of the year are huge, but this one is probably the most important game yet. And judging by the sounds of his performance on Sunday, he might need a few more days to get back into game shape, or rest up any lingering effects from his concussion.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Daniels played all 3 games this weekend. With a full 2 days rest in between tonight's game and Saturday's game, Coach Watson might just put him out there for Saturday and Sunday.
We're long over due for a win against Sarnia. I think we'll get 'em tonight.

I think you guys and TW have a different idea for goaltending. Several times recently it has been a GUARANTEE On this board that Daniels would be in net, and that isn't what happened. It seems TW is very content to have each goalie start every other game. I think the only reason we strayed from that this past week was because of Pasquale's injury. I believe if Pasquale is 100 percent, he'll play at least once this weekend.
Is that the right choice? I'm not sure. I think I'd like to see Daniels playing more games because he seems to have proven he's a little stronger than Pasquale, and I think this is who we will leaning towards in the playoffs. Get him used to playing a few games in a row again.

Eric - Im sorry you think were going with Pasquale or Daniels in the playoffs?
What has Pasquale done that makes you so high on him? Comparing stats from the past months since the big trade that brought him here, Daniels stats have been lights out compared to Pasquales.
Back to the game. Huge game for the Spirit, they keep getting more important. Heres to hoping the Spirit play like they have been playing lately and come out on top.

Eric - Im sorry you think were going with Pasquale or Daniels in the playoffs? Did you read my last post? I said that while I think that Daniels will be our guy in the playoffs (rightfully so, I might add), that WATSON seems to be content to play these guys every other game. This has proven to be the case SEVERAL times this season, especially recently, and I don't think there is any more evidence that Watson thinks more highly of Pasquale than literally every person on this board, than the fact that he played him in Plymouth on Sunday. Did that turn out to be the wrong choice? I'm not sure, because I did not see the game and do not know if the goals were Pasquale's fault. I don't recall anywhere in my post saying that Pasquale was better than Daniels, as a matter of fact, I specifically stated that he is NOT. Either way, my prediction stands...within the next three games, we will see Pasquale in net. Probably Saturday.

Im sorry I just found your post confusing, I wasnt trying to offend.
Bottom line is Saginaw needs points and they need wins. I seriously think that if this team can remain in 6th that they have a chance to get to the second round of the playoffs. Im not saying Im counting them out if they finished 7th or 8th by any means but still. Assuming Windsor doesnt catch the Soo.
Regardless, back to the game day thread!!!

You don't actually believe those attendance figures, do you?
They played for 20 of the 60 minutes and lost. Lost another big game at home. They will finish where they deserve to finish, I think all this if we get to 6th, etc ...is a waste of time.
The gave up another shorthanded goal. I think they are leading the league by far. I think the question should be asked to Watson why this is so? You would think the local bead reporter would ask those questions.
Not a good effort, many ugly minuses on the recap. Some defenseman really looked bad tonight.

Couple things...
1) The attendance was the best i've seen for a weekday game...there's no way it was 4000 but there were probably around 2800-3000 in the seats.
2) It's a "beat reporter" not a bead reporter. The bead reporter is the guy who corresponds for girls gone wild live from mardi gras

I would just like to add that that was probably the worst game daniels has played all year 4 of the 6 goals were way to soft for a tender at this level to be giving up. just my opinion. I would also like to know why when eddie has a bad game he gets pulled but daniels doesn't i guess they wouldn't want to damage his ego too much.

Agree...Daniels was off tonight. I like how we battled back, but that shorthanded goal killed us. A big factor tonight I thought was our inability to cash in on rebounds. Sarnia's goalie was giving up big rebounds all night but we didn't have anyone in front of the net it seemed. Tonight's loss hurts but there's still lots of hockey to be played. We can't take Owen Sound lightly on Saturday.
