Sitting in the motel in Owen Sound, waiting to head out in the blizzard to have our pregame meal at Shorty's Bar & Grill. Drive from Sarnia took over 4.5 hours (a 3 hour drive in good weather). Lake effect snow all the way on Hwy 21. Watched the Sting eke out an O/T win against Windsor last night. Guess who we were (silently) routing for. I made a comment after last Wednesday's game against the Sting that I wasn't overly impressed with the overall play of Stamkos. Well, last night he played an awesome game, including getting the game-winner in O/T. He's the real deal.
The Attack are 0-11-0-3 in their last 14 games, so I hope the Spirit can help them continue their beaten streak. If Eddie is in goal, I'm sure that he'll be watching pucks being shot around the boards after what happened up here back in mid-January.
Will give my comments after tonight's game (and a trip back to Shorty's).

I actually heard several people at the Dow on Wednesday saying they weren't all that impressed with Stamkos. Then I looked at the scoresheet and saw that he had 2 goals! Pretty crazy.
Bring home a win!

Zaborski scores with only 9 seconds left to make it 4-3 Spirit! Looks like we squeak this one out!

Whew!!!!!!!!!! No fingernails left. What a cliff-hanger. Z's game-winning goal happened at the other end, so I didn't get a clear view of what happened. Sure was glad to see the red light go on, though. Spirit came out flying, but the game settled into one that was more-or-less evenly played. Even so, we outshot them by a wide margin. Attack goalie played a fantastic game (deservedly named 1st star). Always seemed to be in great position. Best Spirit player of the night IMHO: Joe Pleckaitis. He had two helpers and played an exceptional overall game, even after taking a puck (I think) in the face area and having to get repairs near the end of the 2nd period.
Weather here in OSD is downright brutal. We've got close to 12 inches of snow (they had predicted less than an inch). Team is headed back to Kitchener tonight (a 2.5 hour drive in good weather). They tried to stay here, but there weren't enough rooms available to house everyone in a single motel.

John..... " They tried to stay here, but there weren't enough rooms available to house everyone in a single motel. "
According to every travel site I could find, there weren't any rooms at all. That's why I cancelled my trip. Based on the storm, I am kind of glad I did. Drive safe to Kitchener and to home. We will see you Friday. Peace.
