Got to credit the Soo's defense and the way they played in the 3rd...they didn't sit back at all and kept attacking. Ryan Daniels had a great game, but unfortunately on the losing end. 0/7 on the powerplay doesn't help. We're gonna have to win both games at the Dow, because we seem to have trouble at the SBC.

Spirit lose 2-1 Doesn't look good, hate to seem doubtful but it's gonna be a tough road to come back from! I'm still gonna be hopeful! Sounds like They had chances the 2nd and 3rd period but came up short! Hope SAGINAW comes out and supports Their HOMETOWN SPIRIT on Wednesday and Thursday. GO SPIRIT

0/7 for power play is freaking brutal. Well your PP wasn't brutal, just our PK is much better. The Hounds finished 2nd overall in PK and with Gajewski backing them up , any team can go 0/7 on the PP against us. I don't know if anyone on here is also on the NOOF forum , before anyone complains, take it from someone was at the game, Don't blame the refs. They were consistent and probably could have called an even tighter game as they let a lot go in the third. Besides scoring, Chappel was on of those players I just wanted to jump on the ice and punch him in the head. He was bothering every Greyhound on the ice, but I guess that is what he was told to do. Good game from Daniels , but good enough I guess as he picks up another loss at the SBC. Good luck next game, as maybe your 'lifeless" Spirit will gain some life for a home game. Not to mention 2 days rest. Go Hounds Go

If the Spirit are "lifeless" as you mention, then I'd be seriously concerned as a Hounds fan to have squeaked out two one-goal wins on home ice to such a young Spirit squad.
It was white-knuckles in the last five minutes of both games up there - something I'd be concerned about as a Soo fan.

Our PP hasn't only been brutal against the Soo, so it is indeed something to be concerned about. Defense and special teams wins in the playoffs. 2-1 loss--doesn't sound like we can fault the defense or the goaltending........or even the PK (1/7). There is nobody on this team that can quarterback the PP. (I remember we had this discussion a few weeks ago in another thread). That is the single biggest problem with it, IMO. Way too many penalties in the first period--and then only 2 the rest of the game. Maybe we could play the last two periods of the fame first??

I agree that Daniels is playing very well. Gajeswki has been shaky in both games with many rebounds and bobbled pucks.
He is very fortunate but he does seem to come up with the big save when it is needed.
The problem with the PP is the forwards move back too high and the top penalty killer can take away the pass or shot from the point. The teams with very good powerplays the forward very rarely comes out higher than the hash marks so it gives the D more time to shoot.
Our PP seem to get outnumbered/outhustled along the boards and in the corners.

ssmgreyhoundfan ... I do feel sorry for you though seeing as everybody in the Soo seems to think that Kyle Gajewski is gods gift of talent. Not hard to do what he does on a nightly basis with the team he has infront of him. Thank you for the welcoming, but thats all you have to do is look at the overall stats sagsfan. Juice have very impressive numbers, lead the league in wins, 2nd in the league for Goals Against Average, and I see your trying to say he doesn't face many shots, but you wrong. During this season, Juice has faced 50 more shots than Daniels has all year. Juice is very strong back there, and he is there when the defense breaks down. Also , for someone who said about the "lifeless" young Spirit team and being concerned about the Hounds 1 goal wins . Sure the Hounds have beat you guys so far in 1 goal games. But the Hounds aren't playing even close to as hard as they normally do. As rival fans, you should have noticed the Hounds have not played well yet, and neither have the Spits. I know you guys can play better and I definitely know the Hounds can play better.

ssmgreyhoundfan look a little closer Juice has played approx 113/4 more games than Daniels and yet has only had 52 more shots. Juice 27.96 shots per gm: Daniels 33.77 shots per gm.

Great analysis of the PP sensspiritfan. Hopefully the coaching staff will adjust the X's and O's. Everyone said special teams were going to be the difference in the series. So far that had boded true.

Wow, Juice has played in 28 and 1/4 more games than Daniels on a team that only has 68 total games for the regular season? He must be exhausted! ;D

This guy loves the game of hockey and will do anything to stay off the bench and be in the net every night. Just like all the Hound players, they ALL have integrity, confidence and talent . Even Coach Hartsburg reflects on our goalie's performance. I've also noticed, Juice is amazing at point blank range, but will let in a few weaker ones from the distance. With Daniels, especially the last 2 games as I have been studying him as I am a goalie as well, he is pretty weak high glove side. I don't care who you are, you have to admit Juice should be playing atleast in the AHL next year and probably should have been drafted and to go with that, I am so glad he made the All Star team this year, he truly deserved it.

excuse the typo 11 &3/4 games if it makes it easier for you. As for Juice no one said he wasn"t a good goalie. He may play in the AHL ,but more than likely will start in the ECHL not unlike former Guelph Storm goalie Ryan Mcdonald who had great numbers in the O if I remember correctly. I wish nothing but the best of luck to Kyle in his pro career
