Figured a light-hearted question couldn't hurt after Saturday...something that I've been curious about all season (and much of last) for some reason, and have never remembered to ask on here where all the experts are...Are the Spirit Super Fans affiliated with the Saginaw Spirit, or are they simply fans that devote their game experience to doing the types of things that our mascots should be doing rather than hiding the entire game?
Just curious, they seem to do a pretty good job, and the kids love the balloons. I assume they must have SOME affiliation since they are allowed to get on the mic every now and then. Are they paid employees, do they get a free ticket at least? Just wondering.

they are paid to be at the games...I am not sure how much but I would imagine it is comparable to hiring an entertainer for an event (clown, magician, etc.)

I believe that they do their "Super Fan" thing at other places, also. Someone in my section mentioned having seen them elsewhere.

This is one of the areas a have a problem with when it comes to the game day stuff. I know when it's time to cheer. I don't need the video board or "hired" super fans to tell me. In fact, it has just the opposite effect on me. I am less likely to cheer when the board, the hired super fans, the very annoying announcer or anyone else tells me to. I told Goslin once, if you want me to cheer, have the boys put the puck in the net!
