It’s close to starting and there are still a lot of question marks and this board is not as active as I like. So let’s see if we can get it going a little.
Here is what I’d love to see them do. 1. Trade Ivan and get either good 01’s or draft capital. 2. Trade all 00’s to the East except, Wilde and the three OA’s they plan to keep next year as OA’s for 01’s or draft capital. 3. Bid on the Memorial Cup for 2021. If bid fails you have an easier shot getting it anyways.

Bid on the Memorial Cup for 2021. If bid fails you have an easier shot getting it anyways. My thoughts: 1. Why trade Ivan? Saginaw is going for another run this season, not 2021. Why trade the likely best goalie in the league, that makes zero sense. Ivan and Lennox should split starts about 60/40 giving Tristan a ton of games while still keeping Ivan physically fresh. 2. Once again why move your talented older kids in a go for it year. This may be Perfetti's last year in the OHL. If its not, next season likely is. Make the run this year while he is still here, and move him to Oshawa next year for whatever you can get (they are planning a memorial cup bid and have the timeline and arena to make it happen). Probably can get their 1st rounder this upcoming draft plus a ransom of picks. 3. Sadly, the Memorial Cup will more than likely never come to Saginaw. I see people post about this all the time and I just dont think its going to happen in the O unfortunately. The Memorial Cup requires guaranteed funding promises fulfilled through advertisements and ticket sales. Canadian advertisers that fund the CHL's postseason advertising budget get little return on their investment if the games are held here in the States. Also, Saginaw doesn't have the number of seats (middle of the road in the CHL as a whole) and luxury box suites other arenas can offer that can be sold to meet the revenue funding requirements. Only way Memorial Cup comes to Saginaw is if Garber and Goslin are willing to front and lose a ton of their own cash. What I think Saginaw should do this season is wait to after NHL camps to see where they stand on Wilde and O/As. If Wilde is back and Coskey/Busdeker/Ivan are all sent back. I'd move Webb for picks. Flip some picks/bottom 6 forward for another top 6 forward and a RH top 6 dman and then wait and see where we are at the trade deadline. Roster would look something like this. Giroux-Perfetti-Coskey Trade-Jenkins-Porco Goldowski/Katic-Baber-Busdeker Bloom-Cardwell-Codd Bulovs Soloyov-Wilde Millman-Trade King-Smith/Punnett/Lemieux Ivan Lennox

Jimbo,
Is Lennox 100%, as he got injured in the last tourney? I might hold onto Ivan at the moment
Who is your list for 00's to trade? You aren't going to get a heck of a lot for Katic or Goldowski, but in saying that, they deserve a chance to play more somewhere else. Tell me that Jenkins and Giroux are not in that mix. They are the only 2 that would fetch anything.
If Wilde doesn't come back, the whole league knows we need a Dman and we won't be dealing from strength.
I don't seeing the power's to be ever offering Saginaw a Memorial Cup... still Canada's pet.

Has any US based team hosted the Memorial Cup? I know Saginaw, Erie, and Detroit/Plymouth/Flint never have. That leaves Everett, Spokane, and Seattle in the Dub.

FreelandSpirit I’ll put you in a go for it season. I said Ivan cause the bounty would be high and demand the most picks from all our OA’s. I do disagree about trading Perfetti though, I think the asking price would be more then any other team would be willing to spend. Swoopster I have no info on his health. Keep Blade and Damien and offer up the rest including Bode if he comes back. Only one of the remaining 00’s will be back next year.
Also if they do not get the bid and Oshawa gets it all we have to do is get to the OHL finals with them and we are in the Memorial Cup.

Portland in 83 and 86 Seattle in 92 Spokane in 98 Saginaw put in a bid for the 2008 Memorial Cup. The arena hasn't been updated enough since then, (suites etc, as mentioned earlier), so it's not going to happen for us. Plus we aren't going to be competitive enough in 2021.

Originally I'd say yes trade him for the capital but there's not really a market for OA/Import/Goalie trifecta. Might as well keep him at this point if he does come back. 2. Our OO's are King, Solovyov, Giroux, Jenkins, Katic, Goldowski, and Wilde (potentially). Of them really only King, Katic, and Goldowski will be back as OA's. So you want them to trade Giroux and Jenkins? You want them to move two of our best players? Why? This year the west is going to be as weak as it's gonna get for a while. After this season Erie, Flint, Windsor, and London are all going to be monsters. This is isn't the year to be deferring for another year. 3. Nope. See my previous post.

On the Memorial Cup bid...while I'd LOVE to see it in Saginaw, there's no way in heck that it's going to happen. What should happen is a bid to host it at Little Caesars Arena. You'd be able to draw a ton of fans from Western Ontario and it would be another major event in the Detroit renaissance.

What are the odds that Ryan McLeod comes back?

I say 40% odds of him being back. If he doesn’t show the drive that they are looking for them they send him back.
Ok so I guess everyone is in the go for it mode. Who is expendable to get the players we will need. If the price is right do they make a play on Merkley? Do they try to upgrade an OA spot?

A massive negative on Merkley... heck the Patriots can afford to take a chance on Antonio Brown. If he acts up or fails in any way, he's gone. They loose very little and can afford to take that chance.
Saginaw can't afford the luxury of wasting picks and talent on a "who know's " what you are going to get player. He could be the answer... but could really sour the pot.

MacLeod is not coming back.....not a chance.
As for Lennox, he was fine to play but Drinkill wanted to rest himso he would have another week or two of rest.

Giving O/A goalie Nick Donofrio, a chance. Curiouser and Curiouser.

Giving O/A goalie Nick Donofrio, a chance. Curiouser and Curiouser. My understanding that this was more of an "emergency" call because Lennox may have tweeked something in last night's game.

Lennox also "tweaked" something at the International tourney this summer...same tweak?
