Can anyone give me advice on taking a trip to Sarnia? I'm headed there Friday night. I'm shooting the game, so I'm not worried about seats or anything, but give me an idea of what the arena is like, what the town is like, etc., if you have experience!

Can anyone give me advice on taking a trip to Sarnia? I'm headed there Friday night. I'm shooting the game, so I'm not worried about seats or anything, but give me an idea of what the arena is like, what the town is like, etc., if you have experience! The Sarnia arena reminds me of Sault Ste Marie's arena. It has an open concourse where there is a shelf behind the last row of seats for standing room only and one can put their drinks or food on. So all the concessions are on the perimeter of the concourse. It is nice that you can still hear the game and see the scoreboard while buying a snack. All the seats are below the concourse and there are no exits near the glass. Luxury suites are above the concourse for about 2/3rds of the arena. The side opposite the main entrance is a club area, so it makes it difficult to walk all the way around the concourse. The arena is within the grounds of Lambton College. The commercial area around the arena (London Rd.) feels like Bay Road in Saginaw Township or Wilder Road in Bay City. The arena is significantly distant from downtown Sarnia. Downtown Sarnia itself is somewhat like Bay City. It has waterfront parks along the river, old buildings, old churches, etc. I have never ventured north of the 402, so I am not sure what is up there towards the lakefront. If you go too far south, you'll get into the oil refinery area. Going further east of the arena becomes mostly prairie. One other note, the players do not need to go onto the ice to go to the locker room. The locker rooms are behind the bench. The penalty boxes are on the side of the main entrance and the benches are naturally opposite of those. Enjoy!

I made the trip last night as well. IMO it was a pretty ho-hum game. I actually didn't think Saginaw played with a huge amount of energy (although scoring 6 goals and putting 44 shots on net may suggest otherwise...), but Sarnia was playing without Perrault and Rees (suspensions) and they just looked overmatched right from the start. Can't really fault the Sting netminder on any of the goals he gave up.
Riley Webb came back after being out for a month and had a real nice game. Broke up several Sting rushes and didn't look rusty.
DJ Busdeker's shorthanded goal in the 3rd was a thing of beauty. Weaved through three Sarnia defenders on his own and made it look easy.
Ryan Suzuki might be one of the most elusive players I've ever seen at the junior level. I think he even fakes himself out sometimes.
