The Red Wings put Whitney, Hatcher, and McCarty on waivers. What are people's thoughts on this?

The Red Wings put Whitney, Hatcher, and McCarty on waivers. What are people's thoughts on this? Get used to it. Pierre Turgeon was let go today by Dallas and I'm sure we'll see more in the coming days. Hatcher and Whitney were no brainers IMO. Kronwall (sp??) will take Hatcher's spot on D. I'm not so sure about the reasoning behind letting McCarty go. His salary wasn't a killer. Maybe it will become clearer once the final roster is set. |

Perhaps they are planning to get someone else to clean the ice. He just wasn't enforcing enough and when he did challange someone it was a pretty close fight most of the time. |

Good news today if your a Brendan Shanahan fan. He exercised his option on the last year of his contract so he will be wearing the Winged Wheel for the '05-'06 season.
