The OHL is targeting a start date of Thursday, October 7 for the upcoming season, with training camps starting on Saturday, September 4. The season will conclude on Sunday, April 3, 2022 and the playoffs start on Thursday, April 7. So about two weeks later than usual. A full 68-game schedule will be coming out in a few weeks.
The Memorial Cup is scheduled for June 2-12, 2022 (hosted by a QMJHL city).
Not sure how optimistic I am at this point considering all the lockdowns in Ontario and what not, but a lot can change in 5 months I guess.

We'll see what comes out tomorrow but I've heard we're going to be front loaded with Erie and Flint in case there's any delays with the border.

We'll see today if we'll play 16 games against those two teams, or more. You will note that Erie, Flint and Saginaw all have home openers against Flint, Erie or Saginaw.

Looks like we're not playing at all during Opening Weekend. The home opener is also the season opener. No games against Eastern Conference teams this year, either. I heard that was a possibility. We won't be crossing the border until Wednesday, November 3 (road game at the Soo). 12 games each against Flint and Erie. ontariohockeyleague.com/schedule/70/34

I hate the schedule. I get front loading erie and flint due to border issues, but I want to see all the teams. It also means no fun eastern conference road trips this year.
I thought we were going to turn a page for this season but it looks like another COVID based season.

Some teams are strapped for cash because of the missed season and cant afford the travel.

Speaking of $, wasn't there a bill in Ontario when there were still rumors we might startup then that was going to give some support for OHL teams? I know the education part was covered but I swear there was talk about some money from the Canadian government (and thralls of Canadians saying money shouldn't go to SAG/FNT/ERI)

Nothing to the American teams from the canadain government. At least when the games start here we could have full capacity at the moment. That's not the case for the Canadain teams, putting them further in the hole potentially.

A bummer about the schedule is that we won't get to see Shane Wright play in Saginaw this year, unless we somehow have a Spirit/Fronts final or he gets traded. I read that the region-based schedule will save teams roughly 60% on hotel expenses compared to a normal year. Gotta recoup the losses somewhere, I guess. Just glad all 20 teams are still around.
