Fairly obvious now that the OHL has no interest in the Canadian teams crossing the border into the US. US teams going to Canada seems okay - Flint went to London and Sarnia last week and Erie went to Kitchener.
They didn't even allow the Spitfires to come through Michigan to get to and from the Soo last weekend.
We'll see what happens next weekend when Saginaw plays in Guelph before heading for 2 games in Erie.

It’s the teams worried about losing a player 14 days if they catch COVID in the US and get quarantined at the border.

Shut the poop show down... or, let the NHL clean up the mess of their best feeder system. Its in their best interest to keep the Junior programs going. If is means forking over the cost to have the US teams locate into Canada...pay for it. As of now, The Canadian clubs don't want to enter for player lock down issues.

If is means forking over the cost to have the US teams locate into Canada...pay for it. As of now, The Canadian clubs don't want to enter for player lock down issues. I am shocked that people continue to say shut it down. Why? These kids are at very little risk — they're all vaccinated and they're young and healthy. They have to follow the protocols, but there's not much risk of them getting seriously sick. However, if we kill another season, they lose all that exposure. They've already lost a year of their junior career. Asking them to lose another is crazy. The OHL should have done a better job (or a job at all) of working with the Canadian government to allow easier travel across the border, but it didn't. At this point, I doubt this current wave is going to continue to be this bad — we already seem to be hitting the peak here in the U.S. The Canadian teams are playing scheduled games right now, and the U.S. will be able to catch up when things improve. Shutting down the season should be a last resort, but there just isn't any reason to do it at this point.

I stated shut it down as a last alternative. What I am saying is that 5 make-up games are already at hand, with the possibility of 4 more in January and another 10 in Feb/ March. If the present scenario continues how do you make-up and back end that many games. This affects the Canadian teams as well, heck London already has 7 postponed games. There could be some creative thinking with the help of the NHL to mini house the US-based teams at NHL, AHL, or other OHL rinks on a short-term basis to better complete the schedule. What I'm talking about is altering the schedule so that a US based team could enter Canada and play its opponents there either in a neutral rink of another venue over the course of a week at a time to complete the schedule. The players deserve to play no matter where, what, or how it is done.

The way covid is ripping through these teams, eventually enough of them will have had it and they can stop testing. A positive test gets you 180 days of not testing to cross the border so there's no reason to test some of these guys anymore. Once we get through this stretch, things will get back to somewhat normal and while you still may not have any fans in Canada, there shouldn't be any reason for the teams to shut back down.

on the OHL website, I counted 74 postponed games as of Jan 25. Some have been rescheduled and played others are TBA. Its going to make quite a mess if it continues as the season heads to the finish line.

Taking a look at the schedule, after this weekend we have four games left against Erie (all at home) and two games left against Flint. By my count, this means we will have played Flint 13 times this year, with the Firebirds getting the extra home game. I'm not sure if the 13th game has always been there or not. I assumed we were playing the American teams 12 times each. Hopefully we can start getting these Canadian trips in soon. I'm just glad to have hockey back this year, but I'm also ready to play someone other than Flint and Erie lol.

Kitchener had no problem getting to Flint last night so there's no issues getting across the border which is what a lot of people had said. I would expect that our players will have no issues traveling to Soo and London this week and I would expect to see London in the Dow as well. With so many of these kids getting positive tests, they won't have to test anymore and we'll get to a much more normal schedule.

Game 1: Wednesday, October 20 at Flint (SAG won 5-3) Game 2: Wednesday, October 27 at Saginaw (SAG won 4-1) Game 3: Friday, November 12 at Flint (SAG won 4-2) Game 4: Wednesday, November 24 at Flint (FLNT won 5-3) Game 5: Thursday, December 2 at Saginaw (FLNT won 3-0) Game 6: Wednesday, December 15 at Flint (FLNT won 6-4) Game 7: Wednesday, December 29 at Flint (SAG won 4-3 in shootout) Game 8: Saturday, January 1 at Saginaw (FLNT won 5-2) Game 9: Wednesday, January 5 at Saginaw (FLNT won 4-1) Game 10: Saturday, January 15 at Saginaw (FLNT won 1-0) Game 11: Friday, January 21 at Flint (FLNT won 6-3) Game 12: Wednesday, February 2 at Saginaw Game 13: Saturday, March 26 at Flint I'm just going off what's currently on the schedule. I guess one of those two remaining games could be changed into one of our postponed games...I probably should have thought of that on my original post.
