Kind of a sluggish game last night where I thought at times it looked like Saginaw was the team that played the night before and not Erie, but nonetheless a win is a win. Heard a rumor that Misa might be back on Saturday...I guess we'll find out soon enough.
4. Saginaw, 70 points (7 games left) 5. Flint, 65 points (7 games left) 6. Guelph, 65 points (7 games left) 7. Owen Sound, 63 points (9 games left) 8. Kitchener, 62 points (9 games left)
Friday games: Windsor at Guelph, Owen Sound at Kitchener

I thought Erie outplayed Saginaw in the 1st and 3rd period.

Heard a rumor that Misa might be back on Saturday...I guess we'll find out soon enough. From what I've heard, there's not a lot of truth to that rumor. I don't think we'll see him until the playoffs. The team has 7 out of 8 points in the last 4 games without Misa and Zayne. I think we can handle the Soo without them and they should sit for the Wednesday game against Windsor but it would be nice to have at least Zayne back for next weekend's games against Kitchener and Hamilton if he's healthy.

Lennox played really well, too. I had no idea why Erie hadn't pulled their goalie before the own goal happened. Down by 2 with under 3 minutes left...why not try a 6-on-4 PP.
The Greyhounds are playing in Sarnia tonight, I believe. So we'll have another game on Saturday with the Spirit hopefully rested and ready to go.

Updates with two weeks to go.
4. Saginaw, 72 points (6 games left) 5. Flint, 69 points (5 games left) 6. Owen Sound, 65 points (7 games left) 7. Guelph, 65 points (6 games left) 8. Kitchener, 64 points (6 games left)
We took care of our business beating two lower teams in Erie and Soo but we have some tough ones this week. Windsor will be a tough ask on Wednesday since they have a lot to play for so unless Owen Sound can stop Flint's streak, they'll be within 1 point after Wednesday.
Wins against Kitchener and Hamilton will go a long way this week...we have to keep controlling our own destiny with these teams if we want to hold our spot.
While it would be great to have home ice advantage, the important thing is staying no worse than the #5 slot. I still stand by my original prediction that we'll play Flint in the first round and to me, it doesn't matter whether we're home or away for those...both teams have proved that they can win on the other team's ice. The worst thing would be falling to the #6 spot to play Sarnia which would be a quick exit. This team NEEDS playoff experience and we'll get that in the 4/5 matchup with a good chance to advance because our goaltending is better than anyone else we'd play in that spot.

Well said and I completely agree with all your points. Having a game in hand on Flint is huge, and finishing fourth or fifth won't matter too much.

Tough week coming up. At Windsor who are still battling London for first overall in the conference. At Kitchener who have played well lately. At home vs Hamilton who just beat Ottawa for the fourth time this season.

The one good thing is that we should hold the tiebreaker over the other teams since we have 34 regular and OT wins and the next highest is 30. Really, really need to stay in that 4/5 series. Sounds like on hfboards that Windsor could be missing quite a few players tonight due to injuries and if it was me, I wouldn't rush them back for the game tonight so hopefully they're short-handed and we can steal one.

Huge point tonight combined with a Flint loss to Owen Sound and suddenly we've gone from 3pts up to 4.
In my original post there were three games that looked very unlikely and we got 4 out of 6 points in those games. Team is playing strong down the stretch, keep it up and we can lock in that #4 slot.

Gotta clean things up defensively. Still giving up too many odd man rushes. Lazary said as much during the pre-game show on the radio. That said, take the point and run.

It is easily the most frustrating part about this team... I've watched them all year and yet I'm watching last night's game and screaming at the TV "how do you give up a breakaway there." It seems like I yell that 4-5 times per game which is 3-4 times more than I should.

It seems like I yell that 4-5 times per game which is 3-4 times more than I should. 3 of the 5 Windsor goals in regulation were odd man rushes or breakaways (Maggio goal). They also gave up the OT game winner on an odd man rush but that happens frequently during 3 on 3 OT.
