A trade with Kitchener this evening ahead of this Friday's OHL Draft.

I wonder if there's a part 2 to this trade? There's a pretty interesting rumor on the HF boards that has us drafting Henry Brzustewicz from the Detroit burbs (Washington, MI) and then acquiring older brother Hunter from Kitchener so the boys can play together in Saginaw. I have no idea how Henry is but Hunter is a very good defensemen and would help replace Mitchell Smith and Mintuykov on the back end.

Don’t forget the possibility of part 2 of the Mintyukov trade bringing a player here from Ottawa in the off-season with a couple of those picks acquired for Mintyukov going the other way.

While I don't disagree that we could go after someone from Ottawa, I don't see that as a "two-parter"...to me, that would just be using assets that we got to make another move. The reason I see this as a potential "two-parter" is that we didn't really get good value back for our 2nd round pick this year. That's a pretty valuable commodity for Kitchener and I would think we'd get a future 2nd or 3rd rounder at least in return and we only got 4ths/5ths. Kitchener has 8 2003-born players, an OA goalie and an '04 in Mesar who might not be back next year. They're going to be in a rebuild/reload mode and it might be a good trade partner for us to load up especially in the off-season to get a full season of players and they can get some younger players like Storch, Brown or Glavin and build for the future.
