After initially being a little shocked by this considering that Fullerton hasn't had a chance to show himself as a backup with a full lineup, this is pretty much a no-brainer because we basically get a NHL drafted goalie for free. Swap a 5th rounder for a 7th rounder and get a goalie for free.

To me, it means we are going with Oke as our goalie for the Memorial Cup. Not sure I'm entirely sold on him yet, but we'll see how it goes. When I first heard of the move, I thought we were the ones getting Ben Gaudreau, or thought we were going to make a play for DiVincentiis later on down the road. Perhaps the team wants to use the draft cupboard for other areas instead. We could probably use another puck-moving defenseman and/or another top-6 forward.

Keep in mind with Gaudreau being an OA, either Loukus, Mancini, or Hache would need to go. My guess is Drinkill didn’t want to do that. Maybe he made a play for DiVincentiis and North Bay said no. Or like you said he tries again closer to the trade deadline. |

Saw on Twitter that Fullerton is no longer listed on the roster...do 19yo's still get sent down or do they just move on to Canadian University or something like that? With Papineau being signed, unfortunately this is probably the end of Fullerton unless there are plans to only keep Lalonde for world juniors or something like that. x.com/MadJack54/status/1712138485082079520?s=20 |
