Saginaw will open the regular season on Friday, September 27 on the road at Sault Ste. Marie. The home opener will be on Saturday, September 28 vs. Sarnia. Not gonna lie, I was really hoping the home opener would've been against the Greyhounds, so we could raise the banner and stick it to a few select members of their fanbase one last time, but alas we can't always get what we want Full schedule will be released Monday, June 17 at 2 p.m.

I'm really surprised game 1 isn't at home... I know we like Saturday games but I wanted to begin the season at home for a change

I’m just hoping for a more balanced home and road schedule. Last season Saginaw had a 7 game home stretch in late January and early February followed by 8 of their last 11 on the road in March.

Every team plays the same number of home and road games. It doesn't really matter when the fall. I'm not sure how much input the team itself has on its schedule, but if they have some, I'd imagine they wanted to be away toward the end of the season to allow time for Memorial Cup upgrades, which by the way were being done every day there wasn't a game in the building pretty much leading right up to the start of the tournament.

I've always heard that we request no Fridays in the fall because of high school football... May not be true but it would make sense

The key word is “hoping”! Think about this especially as it relates to the casual fan with a limited monthly budget. If there is a string of home games like that 7 game string in late January and early February, the casual fan may only be able to afford to go to a couple of those games. If those games are spread out a little more, the casual fan may be able to afford to go to a few more of those games. My other peeve is too many week day home games against our rivals Flint and Sault Ste Marie. I know why it’s done but I don’t have to like it.

Craig Goslin posted this on Facebook:
"We worked with the OHL and Windsor Spitfires and made an adjustment in our schedule as we now will open our season Wednesday, September 25th at the Dow! Put it on your calendars! The Memorial Cup and Championship Banner will be celebrated! Less than 15 weeks away!"
We'll be able to celebrate a couple of days earlier than we thought.

Full schedule here: chl.ca/ohl/schedule/34/79/Confirmed that we are now playing Windsor on opening night on Wednesday, September 25. Hopefully the attendance is good. Some other notes... -No Friday night home games until November 15 (vs. Erie) -Won't have to wait too long to see London again: the Spirit visit the Knights on Oct. 18 and London returns to Saginaw on Oct. 26 -3 games against the Greyhounds the first month of the season -First trip back to Brampton in about ten years will be on Saturday, October 19 -All 4 home games against Flint are on the weekend (two Friday games and two Sunday games, including the last day of the regular season) -Kinda bummed not to see a road game in Flint on Thanksgiving Eve. My friends and I made that game a tradition. They're playing Sarnia instead.

Interesting (and a little sad) that there are only 5 Saturday road games and one of those is Flint. I like Saturday games for road trips so we can have all day Sunday to travel. Looks like it may be an early season trip to Brampton this year but that may be a tough ticket in their first year back.

I have been wanting to get back to Niagara again since they moved to the new arena. But I think they have had the Spirit on a Thursday night every season since.
