Well, the game week got off to a slow start in the Soo with a loss. If you watched the game, I thought the overrule for our 4th goal was a bit of a stretch and that turned out to be the difference maker. Was a pretty bad defensive game and the team left Oke out to dry more than they have so far this year. Compounding the defensive problem, Bishop had a late hit (originally I thought it was timely) and is rightly getting a two game suspension which will keep him out all weekend.
Tomorrow night is the internet favorite Pride night which may be one of the least attended Saturday night games not because of Pride but the matchup of two 4-3 football teams are playing at the exact same time. I'm sure the Spirit were thrilled when they flexed that game to a night game.
Then on Sunday it's Hockey Fights Cancer night and there's a jersey auction...haven't seen the jerseys but they've often been pink for breast cancer but this one isn't called "Pink-Out" so I think they'll go a different direction with it. They almost always nail it with these jerseys so I'm looking forward to what they've come up with.
It will be a motivated London team on Saturday night after we humiliated them in their barn a week ago...hopefully we can have a good effort and then we need to thump Owen Sound on Sunday.

Lots of tickets available for both games according to the Ticketmaster seat map. I think it’s safe to say that the casual fans that hopped on the Memorial Cup bandwagon have now hopped off since there is no Memorial Cup to look forward to.

The attendance chart at hockeydb shows that it was 150 on average per game over the previous year...not a big jump.
There will certainly be a hangover after the excitement of last year and we all know what the games look like in the fall. After Christmas will tell the story...we'll see what the team looks like and that's when the fans usually start showing up.

The Soo losers on the HFboards are spewing their crap again saying that Zayne hit a fan with his stick and is going to be suspended 10 games. Meanwhile, we're all still waiting for the McConnellBarker suspension for knocking our goalie out of the playoffs. Such babies.
They're also clamoring about 5 games for Bishop who has always seemed like a gentle giant on the ice. He was coming full speed to stop a goal and hit the guy late...no reason to whine about it, it's a 2gamer and move on.
Oh, and they're also bitching about Lazary not talking to their media. I don't think he even talks to our media so why would he talk to theirs?

He has 3300 followers and so a few of them picked up his tweet and ran with it. Now he wants to play victim that sketchy websites made articles based on his words. Won’t ever take accountability for the fact that he has a massive footprint on social media and he has to be careful what he posts. Just slapping “unconfirmed” onto a rumor doesn’t absolve him. And the lie has gone around several times before the truth made it around once.

It’s obvious that Greyhounds fans will never get over the fact that they lost out on the Memorial Cup bid to Saginaw. Saginaw winning the Memorial Cup just rubbed more salt in their wounds. They are always going to remain salty towards the Spirit organization and Spirit fans.

I've seen articles about this pop up all over my Facebook feed. Hounds Insider is definitely one of the more miserable hockey fans who "covers" the OHL. Saginaw is so deep in his head it's kind of sad. Whenever the two teams meet, it's always more about Saginaw and less about the Soo for him. Then again, his team lost out on the bid to Saginaw, lost out on Owen Beck at the trade deadline to Saginaw, choked away the division to Saginaw, got eliminated in the playoffs by Saginaw, and watched Saginaw win the Memorial Cup. And his Flames drafting Parekh was icing on the cake. Life is hard.
Anyway, sounds like the OHL found no conclusive evidence either way and there probably won't be a suspension. Time to move on (again). Bishop's suspension is certainly warranted.
London's gonna be looking for some revenge after their lackluster performance last weekend. Will we finally see Papineau soon? Sunday?

DiBlasi was sent to Chatham which likely means Papineau is finally 100% healthy.

Maybe papineau finally gets an opportunity tomorrow against a weaker Owen Sound team. Only 17 skaters dressed tonight with Willis out, bishop suspended and Igor/Dima not ready yet.

Disappointing night against London losing 4-1. Misa with the loan goal for Saginaw. 0 for 6 on the power play and gave up a shorthanded goal. The losing streak is at 3 games and Saginaw is 2-5-0-0 after starting the season 4-0-1-0. Need to right the ship today against Owen Sound. Not a gimme especially if Carter George is in goal for the Attack.

Papineau starting in goal this afternoon vs Owen Sound per the online scoresheet on the OHL website.

We salvage two points for the weekend with a 5-4 shootout (8 rounds!) win over Owen Sound. Really happy for Papineau. What a way to get your first career win. And two goals for Graydon Jones as well. Much needed. Honestly coming into the game I was just happy Oke was getting a day off.

Whew! A much needed win to stop the 3 game losing streak. It was nice to see Papineau get recognized for his 1st OHL win during the 3 stars of the game announcement even though he wasn’t named a star. Congrats to Grayden Jones on getting his first 2 OHL goals. And Michael Misa just continues to roll. On the road next weekend at Owen Sound Saturday afternoon and at Kitchener Sunday afternoon. Will Willis be back and will we finally see Zhilkin? Bishop will be back after serving his 2 game suspension this past weekend.

Perhaps next to the Sarnia game the most exciting game of the season to date. Happy for Papineau. Hopefully Joey is back in this weekend and Zhilkin is not far behind. Need to get some points on that road trip.

At least Bishop will be back, he's been a solid player for us over the last year and a half. Crazy to think that we only gave up a 6th and 12th round pick for him...hopefully Drinkell can find some more gems like him.
Nice to see Jones get his first two goals! You could just see the excitement especially on the 2nd one...beaming ear to ear and sprinting to the bench for the fly-by.
