Maybe I can go for partial credit on this one. Seems to me that Wren Blair was trying to get Saginaw an OHL franchise for some time before Richard Garber got involved. I know he was involved with the Kingston team so my guess is he brought a pre-season game here involving Kingston. Have no idea who the other team could have been.

Yes, Wren brought Kingston here in 1991 to play an exhibition game against the Detroit Ambassadors (currently Plymouth). What a game! It was a nice warm Saturday afternoon and there were 3500 people there watching two teams they had never heard of.
Wren was ready to bring in the O then but Tom Kirconnel beat him to it with the wonderful CoHL. Just think where we would be today if tom had not interfered!
