My sister and I went to Stars on Ice on Sunday at the Event Center. It was nice not having to drive down to the Palace to see it. Hopefully Saginaw can host it again next year. There was quite a good turnout. And another year when my sister and I don't sit in the seats we were assigned. I think there has only been one figure skating show where we didn't move to better seats.
I must say that this was my favorite show! I loved the whole thing! The group numbers were great. The individual skates were great. Overall it was awesome. I got tears in my eyes during the section of the show when they talked about the skaters that have left them and they showed Sergei Grinkov who passed away 10 years ago while on the ice practicing for SOI. I loved how right after that Yuka Sato come out and was so beautiful and graceful, the program seemed to really honor those who are no longer here. The part after that with the skaters children was so cute. There are some beautiful babies out there! I can't even really pick a favorite program because they were all exceptional. Yuka really impressed me with her pairs skating. She has grown so much as a pairs skater from when she first started. Jaime and David were awesome. Todd was awesome. I think he got probably the loudest response from the crowd of any of the skaters. Ina and Zimmerman were great. The only disappointment was that Alexei Yagudin only skated his first performance though he was listed for one in the second act. He did skate in the group numbers, just didn't do his second solo program. I loved the opening act to Meat Loaf! The place was just rocking. It was amazing. Overall I thought it was the best tour yet! Hopefully SOI will come back to Saginaw.
I posted some pictures on a simple site. I'll probably do something more elaborate later, but I just wanted to share the pictures. Enjoy!
