Anyone else here suffering from this miserable flu? Or better yet, has anyone HAD the flu but gotten over it? If so, what did you do to beat it? I'd love to know, cuz this is kicking my butt! Started off feeling like a bad head cold, now it's heading south. Any good over-the-counter meds that are sure fire? I have been taking Nyquil & Alka-Seltzer Cold & it seems to fend it off a little bit temporarily, but MAN, it just comes back just as bad (or worse!)!!! I'm open to suggestions (I am sure others are, as well!)!

I've had the Flu for over a week now. It's been all in my throat and chest though. Doctor gave me Phenergan w/codiene for the cough and Mucinex to try getting me to cough up the snot in my throat. If anyone needs a good expectorant, I strongly recommend running to the store for Mucinex. It's over the counter but it's like $14 for 20 pills and you take it twice a day. Walgreens has it on sale right now for $10 so get some if you haven't gotten sick yet. It will be your best friend. There really isn't anything you can take to get over this Flu. All you can do is try to aleviate the symptoms. Just get lots of sleep and drink lots of water and juice. I've been living on hot tea for a week. It also helps to loosen the crap in your throat. Oh, get used to sleeping sitting up. Been doing that for a week, too. Wait until your lungs feel bruised!! It feels so good when the pain goes away. And almost no voice for a week!!! This is the first time I remember having the Flu and I tell you what, it's way worse than I ever felt when I had Bronchitis. I used to get that a few times a year. Good luck everyone!!!!

We have used the Mucinex too and it works well.
