Hello from the UK

OK, I admit from the start that the reason I know about you guys is because of The Colbert Report... please don't hate me because of that

Just mooching on in to say hello. I've been a hockey fan here in the UK for over 10 years. I work for my local team, Manchester Phoenix, where I discovered a little connection to the Spirit...

I have a Spirit jersey, and I love it. Just from an appearance point of view (which is shallow, I know), it's a great jersey. It looks really good. I wear it to every Phoenix game. One of our players spots it, recognises it and asks me "where the hell did I get that from?" I tell him, explain the Colbert connection, then he says that his little brother plays for you guys...

The Phoenix player is Brett Clouthier, with Andrew being his little brother...

Anyway, thought I'd share, small world and all that, and say hello... good luck against the Soo

Great Story!! Welcome to the Spirit forum. Unfortunately luck ran out as Saginaw lost in overtime to the Soo last night. The Soo won the series 4 games to 2 and move on to the next round. The season is over for the Spirit.

I haven't been in this forum for awhile, and I missed a great story!! Tracey, I hope Brett told you that Andrew was voted Most Improved Player in this year's team awards, and we're hoping for big things from him this season.
If you get a chance, write and fill us in a little bit on UK hockey--I'm sure I'm not the only one curious about it!!

Great story! how Ironic.

I have a cousin (12 years old) who lives in Oxford who has been following the Spirit On-line and via the Colbert report. He had never heard of hockey before (he was born over there) and we took him to a Spirit Game a few years ago when he was here for christmas and he loved it. We send him Spirit shirts and such. So if your ever in Oxford and you see another Spirit jersey or shirt, it's probably him.
