I am sick of all the stupid childish 2nd grade bickering back & forth on here. So are the bulk of the people on here! It's pretty bad when we get 4 posts to a thread on any given day but I get 10 IM's from people complaining about those 4 posts.
GROW UP PEOPLE!!!
From now on, ANY personal attacks, name calling, ANYTHING objectionable, I will pull it. The end. I am sick of having to wade through the IM's of ticked off people who just want to talk hockey here, without being attacked. One or two people are the aggressors here & then everyone else needs to defend themselves or each other & it is stupid. By the 8th or 9th post in a thread it is no longer about the original post, but about who knows more about this, and who has inside info on that & who heard from a billet/player/whoever about this... you get the picture.
We have already lost a lot of people from this board because frankly, they want to come & talk hockey & if certain people disagree, they get jumped on & torn to shreds. You should not need a degree in debate to post on here. It is supposed to be fun. If someone wants to make an idiotic statement, WHO CARES. That's up to them. Sure, you can agree or disagree, but you may NOT attack them & tell them how stupid they are & just rip them apart. This is not "Fact Checking 101", and if you need to flex your muscle on here because it makes up for your shortcomings in the real world, go elsewhere. There are plenty of people on here who are not confrontational people & do not need to be confronted. It's a freaking MESSAGE BOARD!!!!! If you want to fight, go elsewhere.
Plain & simple, new rules: 1) NO name calling 2) NO attacking/piling on people 3) ANYONE may state their opinion, no matter how whacky it may seem to you!
Keep it fun or I will just pull the board dowm. This is stupid. There are plenty of message boards for people who just like to fight with each other. Go there for that. This is stupid that I even have to waste my time writing this.

Let me be the first to issue a public mea culpa. Consider the new rules done on my part, SGF. We need to get to actual hockey season so we have something to talk about besides the rampant speculation that's been all we've had to discuss all summer...........

Would it be possible to post my previous thread on the exhibition game in Woodstock?
I just want to keep the Spirit fans informed. Also, if you can post it up for me I would appreciate it. I can't really remember how much I posted about the game haha. If not, I will post up soon.
Thank you

Weak. I mean, real weak. I'm gone for good too. I am one person one here who doesn't take themselves or hockey too seriously. Passion is one thing, but if anyone's feelings are hurt when g-rated words like "clown" or "moron" are used, then it may as well be a message board for 2nd grade art class. If it's a little less interesting around here, don't blame me or BP Fox, we tried.

I remember when I started this message board... it was like a family here. Everyone was 'friends' & we all got along. Sure there were disagreements but we all worked through them & it never got personal & we always 'shook hands' afterwards. Losing people like BP Fox & Disco Stu - weather you liked them or not, right or wrong, sucked. They were some of the 1st people on here, and again, I would like to invite them back because I miss their hockey knowledge. I do not ever remember them necessarily 'attacking' people & always had a 'in fun' outlook on things that unfortunately many people mistook for a 'better than you' attitude. That certainly was not the case. Like I said, these guys, and guys like them are always welcome back - would love to have them. On the other hand, from day 1 - even back on the old board, we had ONE specific guy, who admittedly was there to start trouble. Over the years he had changed his screen name at least 4 times to try & drum up support for his points of view. Now, I admit, over time, especially the past year or so, I have let this person run wild a bit, simply because he IS a smart hockey person. He knows what he is talking about & 9 times out of 10 (sometimes more!) he is dead-on about 'predictions' and what have you. I enjoyed his posts when he could say "FACT - Tom Pyatt is a good player." but cringed (& recieved several negative IM's) every time he would say 'FACT, idiot - Tom Pyatt is a good player, moron, I know from inside sources about that! And I am smarter & more knowledgeable than all of you put together, dorks."!!! Ok, I exaggerate a LITTLE. Point is, if I want to say that Tom Mannino was the best D-man to ever play the game in Saginaw, that is just my opinion, albiet a BAD opinion, but an opinion nonetheless. Proper followup/response from someone who disagrees would be something like "I disagree, I feel Patrick McNeill or so & so was a better d-man" not "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? ARE YOU STUPID? Go back to your bedroom & suck your thumb some more & learn about the game - you know NOTHING about hockey & do not deserve to occupy thge same webspace as me!"!!!
My point is, if you are here to start trouble (or WERE here...) sorry you feel you can't contribute here without being combative in 99.9% of your posts, because your insite sometimes was really appreciated. It was just the childish attacks that were not liked.
Oh, and thank you everyone for the "thanks" - I finally did something RIGHT, it appears! haha!It was just time...

E-man....I love your insight as much as anyone but you did get a little carried away with the name calling.

I'm going to respectfully disagree on BP and Disco, SGF. Their knowledge was equivalent to eagleman's, but frankly I found them kinda in-your-face also. Without the name calling, though, I will admit, and that should come under basic courtesy. Unfortunately, one of the dangers of the Internet is it tends to make us less conscious of how we treat others, since we don't have to look at them face to face.

I agree to an extent - I think with BP & DS it was at least adult banter & not so much "insulting" or "attacking" people.

In the Spirit of "starting over" I would like to introduce myself. As a first time poster on this board, I feel an introduction is necessary because after reading this board for sometime, it it obvious to me that many of you don't know me.
I am an avid hockey fan who has followed Saginaw hockey since the early 70's. In fact, my first date with my current wife, took place at a Saginaw Gears game on October 28th 1973. We sat in Section 2, row D, seats 6 & 7. And yes, I do still have those ticket stubs. This season I am a first time season ticket holder. For many seasons I have been a frequent visitor in lower section 18, but now have reserved seats there.
I love a good discussion about hockey, even with and especially with, those who disagree with my point of view. I would never leave a fan forum because people disagree with me. Keep in mind here folks, it's no fun argueing with someone who agrees with you. I have always believed that. I have a simple policy when it comes to posting. I will always tell you what I think and why I think it. If you post an opposing view point, but do not support that view point with some type of fact or logic, I may press you but will always do so respectfully. Some may view this as "in your face", but I do not see it that way. I have never been one who has much use for name calling or cheap shots (unless of course, there is good comedic value to it) so it's looks like I might just fit in here.
Where I stand on current Spirit issues:
New GM - The jury is still out and I am willing to give the guy a chance. Having said that, the things I am hearing do not sound good. I will hold judgement until he starts making player moves. I don't care if his office is right down the hall from Mr. Garber's. Keep in mind it's Mr. Garber's team and he can run it anyway he wants. I believe he want's the team to be sucessful. As long as he keeps running it in Saginaw I will be a fan.
New Coach - I like this move and very much disagree with those who feel Mr. Watson is not a top tier choice. That facts do not support that position. In any coaching change, in any sport, high consideration is always given to assistant coaches from sucessful programs. Like it or not, Plymouth has had a very sucessful porgram and Mr. Watson has had success at every level he has coached. I like the fact that he can come in already knowing our players as well as the other players and teams in the league. With such a short time to prepare for the upcoming season, that fact alone will allow the team to come together more quickly than it would have if they had hired an outsider.
Misc. other changes- Hey, changes are a part of life. People in sports, as well as other walks in life, move on. While we will experience more changes this season than in past seasons, it's no big deal. Will I miss Sabrina? Yes. Will I still try and catch a t-shirt regardless of who is shooting it? No doubt. Do I care who the trainer is? Not so much. Not a dig on trainers, just don't give them much thought.
Bob Mancini - For the record, I am sorry to see him go. I did not agree with 100% of his decisions, but overall I give him high marks for where he took the team. I always considered him a "fans coach" and I think that's why many fans were upset when he was let go. I do think he went too far with his "all or nothing" moves he made last season. I wish him well with his new position in the NHL and I look forward to chatting with him at the various arenas this season as there is no doubt our paths will cross again.
One final note: I hope my first post wasn't too long. Please forgive me if it was and chalk it up to a rookie mistake.
