The schedule for the 08-09 season has been announced on the Spirit website. www.saginawspirit.com/ss/home.nsf/public/4BFFBFF9893E29B7852574670073E5E8All of the Sunday home games are now a 4 pm start time. Also noticed that 2 of the 4 home games against Plymouth are Wednesday nights. That will diminish the "home ice advantage" against them once again. I know they do this to avoid 3-in-3s but I still don't like it. At least consider Thursday nights which is a little closer to the weekend. One of the home games against Sarnia is a Tuesday night. They'll be lucky if 2000 people show up for that one. Families are not going to go to hockey games during a weeknight with homework and other school activities being a higher priority. There are also 2 Friday night home games in October so those will be competing with high school football. Anybody know what's up with Saginaw playing at Oshawa on Monday, February 16th at 2 pm??

Anybody know what's up with Saginaw playing at Oshawa on Monday, February 16th at 2 pm?? It is "President's Day"...i'm guessing that most kids will have school off and they'll invite lots of schools. Many teams (even pros like the Pistons) do this once or twice a year on a day when kids are off. Typically it works well...we've played Plymouth on the "weekday afternoon" game and i happenned to be in Detroit that day so i went and it was pretty highly attended.

Oshawa is hosting it's first ever Family Day game on Monday, Feb. 16th. Family Day is an official holiday in Ontario and a couple of other Canadian provinces, celebrated on the 3rd Monday in February.
It is also the date that all TVs must be digital-capable (totally irrelevant comment).
