Wow--Nick goes one pick before Mike Murphy, regarded as the OHL's best goalie this year, and just a few picks after Justin Azevedo. There are definitely still some recognizable names out there. Hurrah for Nick and his family--a very big day for them!!

I see the Spirit website has a list of all the draftees and their NHL teams, along with when their OHL teams will be in Saginaw this year. Certainly a great marketing tool! However, I would guess that we have a better chance of seeing Nikita Filatov in Saginaw w/ Sudbury 10/4 than we do of seeing Steven Stamkos in town with Sarnia in September. I wish Steve nothing but the best--he is a great player and a classy kid--but I am delighted he won't be having any more 5 or 6 point nights against the Spirit!! (I loved how every Stamkos highlight reel showed that great goal from the All Star competition in Saginaw 2 seasons ago)

I've met Steve a few times and he is a class act and all-around great guy. But like you said, don't expect to see him in Saginaw anymore. Lots of the "experts" already have him being the #2 center for the Lightning this year. Add him to a long list of players of players I won't miss terrorizing the Spirit anymore, like Godfrey and Snetsinger

Amen to that, aj!
Speaking of Stamkos and his AllStar goal, I finally got around to checking our the seenstamkos.com website of the Lightning marketing dept. (Great idea, BTW) The Goal, of course, leads off the site, and may I be the first to congratulate Greg Brady for his brush w/ immortality, as you can clearly hear him in the background; "Game over!!" Call the whole thing off!!!" Truly the most lasting memory of All Star week!

Congratulations to Comrie, Brodie and Crawford .... well deserved. I'm surprised that Tyler Murovich was not picked up as it was also his draft year being a late 89 birthday! Unfortunate that both Murovich and Allicock will have to wait and be picked up at some point. Allicock probably wasn't on the ice enough to be seen but definately has the tools where as Murovich I don't understand at all.

anyone have any direct links to any commentary about the nhl draft...more specifically anything about our guys not written by spirit.com or mlive.com? Thanks in advance if there's anything out there you can share!

Mark Seidel of THN, wrote this paragraph in his Draft Blog:
C+, Calgary Flames – Greg Nemisz is a lot like Joe Colborne in that he has the potential to become a big-time player, but the clock is ticking and he hasn’t shown enough consistency yet. Along with Nemisz, the Flames selected the dynamic Mitch Wahl who can create offense, but at his size (6-foot, 175 pounds) it will be difficult. The other selection I am OK with is T.J. Brodie from Saginaw, but other than that Calgary seemed to favor kids who have underachieved, which is a strange group to offer to the mercurial Mike Keenan.
