Tonight our boys head back to the Dow after taking one point away from a hard-fought game against the Soo last night.
I'd say tonight's game should be a good one. We were matched pretty well against the Sarnia Bumblebees last weekend, and OS took them last night 2-1, winning their first game of the regular season. We need to be careful tonight, but I think we've got a good shot. Looking forward to a good game, hopefully the Dow is a little more full tonight.
In other news, London and Plymouth are both in last place in their respective divisions, as well as the bottom two spots in the Western Conference, with no wins each. Plymouth has managed to get a point in an over-time loss. I'm not gloating (that's not a good idea), it's just WEIRD to see.

with regards to London...do they still have people at NHL Preseason games??? Does anyone in the league for that matter?

With regards to London--Steve Mason, Sam Gagner and Pat Kane are all still at NHL camps. The only other player I can think of offhand is Matt Corrente, but I'm sure there could be others. 5-3 final tonight. Spirit allowed OS to get within a goal in the third, but put it away on a PP, a nice goal by McDonaugh. Two young teams, and it showed, but an entertaining game and 2 points for the Spirit. I believe tonight was the first time this season the Spirit played w/ a lead, and it took them awhile to get used to it! 2 fights tonight: Brad Smith/Lane McDermid--Ouch. Smith got owned, but in fairness, McDermid is a tough guy, and he got Smith's arm tied up right away. Andrew Clouthier/Bezzo--much more entertaining, and a convincing win for Clouthier. Bezzo got in a few punches, but Clouthier's were better in both quantity and quality.

I didn't search the whole board for this but what is up w/ Chris Chappell, haven't seen him since that first game vs. SSM and I don't think they announced him as a scratch?
Williams' act tonight was pretty unnecessary...

Chappell has an"upper body injury', thought to be a broken finger.
I'm guessing you mean his penalty. He got smashed in the face by (I think) Simmonds, but yes, he needs to not retaliate. Easier said than done, for sure.............

the whole williams/simmonds incident was an all game event. It was at the end of the game where i think simmonds got under most of the players skin. Simmonds skated by Daniels and was the recipent of a goalie stick WHACK he turned and said something to Daniels and the next thing Murovich was in on the fun talking it up and i didnt see Murovich backing down. Thats when Williams stepped back in and got the major ordeal going although it was Simmonds who shouldnt have said what he said to Nigel. We will see if this is still a heated debate come 11/2 where we play OS in Saginaw.

I believe Daniels and Simmonds know each other. They are both from Pickering, Ontario and are the same age - just a guess.

Didn't know that--Pickering isn't THAT huge a town, so I'd say it's a near certainty that they know each other. Chappell is from there too. Just an initial impression, but I don't think Murovich is going to be backing down from too many people! Yeah, Simmonds and Nigel were yapping pretty good the whole game. We'll see if they've kissed and made up by 11/2!!!!

But don't put a lot of stock into London...they've still got key players away at NHL camps and they'll be a force once they return. Plymouth at the bottom doesn't really surprise me. Just go compare their roster from this year to the one last year...it's A LOT different. Other than that...3 out of 4 points on the weekend...keep it up Spirit!

The only other player I can think of offhand is Matt Corrente, but I'm sure there could be others. Corrente made his season debut for the Niagara IceDogs today, getting an assist and was a -2, in a 7-4 win over Sudbury. London also got smoked today 5-0 by Guelph. That should make for some interesting conversation on the NOOF lol.

This is actually good news, as it means he will be playing for Niagara next weekend when the Spirit are there. According to the NOOF, we are unlikely to see Scott Fletcher, as the prevailing sentiment is that he'll be suspending after getting 5 and a game Friday night after an elbow to someone's head. Wow. 5-0??? Yes, I'll bet we may start to hear some rumblings...... although I am still expecting all 3 to come back. Still, every game they lose now gives them that much more to make up later.
