Why do we always play the least amount of exhibition games in the league? It seems to me that we should have a couple more in order to get the team ready for the season. With training camp lasting for about a cup of coffee, games are the best way to prepare.

Sudbury has a few games as well, but I think they have a geographic problem scheduling games unless they want to play the Soo all the time. With the few preseason games the Spirit play, it seems like the first 2-3 games of the regular season still are preseason games since the team still has decisions to make.

I get frustrated with only getting one home game. I know the game in Woodstock is a home game, but not really close to home. Don't get me wrong, I will be in Woodstock to see the game, but there will be far fewer Saginaw fans there than there would be at Saginaw Bay Ice Arena, so for most fans, it's just one game.

I believe they're headed to Europe to play some games again this year...

Why do we always play the least amount of exhibition games in the league? It seems to me that we should have a couple more in order to get the team ready for the season. With training camp lasting for about a cup of coffee, games are the best way to prepare. I have always heard it's because of a very crappy lease deal with the Dow Event Centre. Let's face it, they've never wanted to play preseason games there at all, and only really have during that four team tournament with the Mexican team. You'd be shocked how little control the Spirit have over anything that goes on in that building. Everyone probably remembers the fiasco with the ice last playoff, but very few may remember the Game 2 between Guelph and Saginaw in 2006 when the goal lights simply DIDN'T WORK! The Spirit had 2 goals waived off on video replay, but they simply didn't have enough evidence...having said that, if the lights had been working, they would have allowed both goals, and the Spirit likely tie that series at 1-all. Someone please ask Craig Goslin about this someday and his face will go redder than a Xmas tree. As nice a guy as this Zane Collings was who ran the rink, he and his staff, borderline incompetent. I feel bad the Spirit don't have a better arena deal, but they don't, so thus the short exhibition season and the games at Saginaw Bay.
