I dont really like the trade...
I personally felt that clouthier had a great game against owen sound. A couple of good scoring chances as well as a good fight. He is a year younger then Pleckaitis. He was never really given alot of minutes last year. I thought he could of become a 3rd line checker and banger.
Not to mention the lack of toughness now in the spirit line up. Clouthier wasnt much of a fighter, but showed a willingness to go. Now we dont have anybody who will fight.

Pleickatis is draft eligible 2008, so aren't they the same age OHL wise? (I see that this is JP's 3rd season, so how has he not been eligible yet, though??? Or maybe that's just a mistake) I actually thought Clouthier had looked better the last 2 or 3 games, and he definitely won that fight last Saturday night. (I hope THAT'S not what got him shipped out....) As far as the stats and draft picks--looks like a wash. Clouthier definitely has more size, and sometimes that takes a little longer to grow into. So I guess I'm borderline against, at this point, but maybe there is more to it. I see Pleikaitis has already been traded once, from Ottawa. An ominous sign.........

I just took a look at the goal that Pleckaitis scored against PBO on 27 Sept 07 and it was a beauty.
He split the two defensemen and then beat Trevor Cann thru the 5 hole.
If he gets the ice time here in Saginaw we might have a real treat to watch this year.

This is a bit of a surprise. I thought Clouthier played his best game to date on Saturday. But I think he was one of Mancini's pet projects and evidently the new regime does not feel the same. The Spirit really needed a left winger with a little more skill. I thought the team was plenty tough with him, now I don't know.

i wasn't at the game but my brother said that Clouthier did win the fight...however...you will all be surprised to hear ME say that I don't mind that he's gone. I was never really that impressed with what he did as a "grind-liner". Despite winning the fight this weekend, I never felt he was strong with the puck and I never really saw him win many battles in the corners. I have no idea who this other kid is but reading what Binky said about the nice goal, i'll take good hands on the stick rather than 5 fingers to the face.

Not sure how good he is with the stick as he only has a couple of OHL goals after two full OHL seasons. But, I'm for giving him a chance. Tough weekend ahead for the Spirit. Hope that this new player helps.

At this point I am willing to give the new bosses a lot of room on these kind of moves. Any time you have a new GM and Coach they tend to make a lot of moves to put their own mark on the team. So far I don't see them doing that. I think it would be easy for Watson to play the "it will take a couple of years" card, but to his credit he has not done that. He believes he can win with this team. Finding the right chemistry is far more important than individual talent. I think we learned that lesson the hard way last season. So far, I am liking the players that are new to the team this season. Let's hope this new guy continues that trend.

I'm surprised to hear you say that.
