Can't we all just TRY to get a long a little here? Instead of ripping one another apart for their opinions, let them have their opinion & move on. A simple rebuttal is always fun, and a little banter back & forth is always fun, but holy geez, this is getting nuts around here! Agree or disagree, everyone has their own opinions. Whether you agree or not, it is just an opinion. No need to make it personal or anything. I understand defending your position, that's all well & good. Just remember, the season has not even started yet - we need to focus on the team & the upcoming season. I would love these posts to be a little more positive. Even if there is negative things to talk about, go ahead, but then mention the positives too. There MUST be a way for us all to get along in here better. We are all rooting for the same team here, afterall (I think). Play nice.

I'm not going to dwell on this, I promise. But I need to make mention of a few things newguy said.
First, Murovich was not coming BECAUSE of Mancini. He did not come the year before because he thought Mancini was all for himself and not looking for the best interest of his players. Once the change was made he decided to come.
Second, because Pasquale would have been the number 2 in Belleville does not mean that he is not a #1 goalie. He simply was in a bad place in order to show that he is a #1 guy. Just go back and look at what the Belleville people said when the trade was made. They were upset he was traded because of his potential and they fact he showed very well. They were not sold on Murphy until last year, when he excelled. And, ask anyone, including myself, whether Brendan Taylor belonged in OHL last year and most people would have said no. So him leaving just gives an opportunity to another player to become a contributor on this team.
As for the blue-white game, I have to go by what people say as I was a victim of delays and missed flights. Oh well, I guess.
And, while I find the complaints from newguy overbearing, obnoxious, and overkill, he has the right to post it in an open forum. Sorry, BP. I understand where you are coming from, but he can post whatever he wants, so long as it does not cross the line. All we can do is continue to be positive.

39 players dressed 3 or 4 were or are free agents
The importance of the draft can not be over-stated.

Puckman, thanks for the defense from the insults. Judging from the private messages I'm getting, I'm not the first guy to have an opinion and be mocked for providing some insight and information. As for Pasquale, you're absolutely right. He probably has all the potential in the world to be a #1 goalie, and Belleville, until they saw Murphy playing lights-out, were probably hesitant to move him. But if the forward you're getting back is sub-standard (Taylor), and you aren't getting a 2nd round pick -- standard operating procedure -- for a deadline deal for an "impact" player let alone TWO, then you got bent over, plain and simple. George Burnett fleeced Don Edwards. I'll change my mind if Pasquale is an all-star. Then and then only, but the folks in Belleville must have chuckled, and I'm sure if you go back on this board, you'll find people predicting Taylor would be one of the breakout players this coming season. Ownership brought us Sean Courtney for Geoff Platt in the 2nd year. I don't think this trade is worse, but if Pasquale flames out, it's in the neighborhood -- because the trade cost Saginaw a chance to be competitive against the Soo and win a couple games if not the series....OR avoid the Soo entirely and play Windsor, Sarnia, Guelph, or London, all of whom showed flaws and had them exposed in the playoffs. This team could have won a playoff round last season. They were energetic, real skilled on the PP and very well coached. So if you're going to sacrifice that for the future, the future better show up in Pasquale this season. Otherwise, it's the kind of error which costs jobs. I don't know Murovich enough to agree or disagree with your theory. But Mancini may have told him there wasn't room for him to develop as a youngster on the star-studded 06-07 team, and wouldn't that have been true? I mean, Combs was a healthy scratch some nights. Torquato was traded. So didn't it benefit Murovich to play lots of minutes elsewhere? I would doubt it was a personality thing with Mancini. I'm sure if Mancini was brought back, Murovich shows up to play.

I'm tired of arguing. I had my say, you yours. Enough said. Moving on.
Having not been at the game, can someone fill me in on the Euro players? People have said they looked good. Can people expand on these comments? Thanks.

Sanderson looks like a Murovich clone, both not overly big but both look like they will go through a wall to do their job- never quit. Sandy is a hard working player, never quits. rarely takes stupid penalties. you guys got a good player.

spiritfan8...i may be wrong but i believe the rule is that your 1st and 2nd rounders can play in the league that year and then you can offer a playercard to only ONE of the remaining draftees of that current year. I think that's right but there's a lot of smart ones on here that might be able to offer some additional info regarding that.

The rule was changed last year and you can have 4 16 year olds (92's)on the team.
I am not sure if round #1&2 automatically count as 2 or not.
It used to be that you could have 3 16yr old position players and a 16 yr old goaltender but before the start of last year they changed it to 4 16yr olds regardless of their position.
Does anyone know which rookies that they have kept. Is pick#3 - Dylan Impens still in camp. I thought that Braun looked pretty good in the Blue and White game as well-- Is he still in camp?

The league changed the rule. You can your 1st and 2nd round picks, as before, and then 2 "wildcard" players from the current draft in your lineup on a regular basis. 1st and 2nd rounders are automatics, whether they report or not.
No word on Impens and Fitze on whether they signed. SN had an article saying that there were no surprises in the first round of cuts, but it did not elaborate on who was cut.

Wasn't that a great article!! *tongue firmly planted in cheek* www.mlive.com/spirit/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/122016003054700.xml&coll=9Did anyone else find it interesting that all of the quotes in the article were from Don Edwards and there were no quotes at all from Todd Watson??

I noticed that also, SSF. But in the spirit of everyone getting along, I won't comment on it. Yet.
Edwards mentioned Braun and Impens as "pleasant surprises", but no word on their signings. Or on what Coach Watson thought of them. I noticed that Walch is going to be a big addition to the D, according to this article. Also interesting.
I had thought the rule change was as puckman said, which would basically leave us with Numbers 3 and 4 (or below) if/when they sign. So in the Spirit's case, that does mean we are limited to 2 16 year olds this season, correct?

How is Kyle Tront doing? I didn't see any word on him at camp. Thanks.

sf8, as I understand the rule, we will be able to dress only 2 16 year olds this year from the draft, unless something drastic changes with Saad and Parker. So I guess we wait and see who we decide to sign, or better yet who decides to sign with us!
