Now that's what an OHL team's website should look like. You can actually spend some time on there and get information.
Other teams are equally lacking as Saginaw's, I'm sure, I just can't name them. It's a joke compared to Kitchener, London, Plymouth, etc. for info and things.
BP Fox mentioned a lot of Spirit fans aren't educated enough about the finer points of the game after six years. I agree completely. He's RIGHT. But this lame website the Spirit have is partly responsible for that. It's borderline-useless for gaining info on the team, the league, and it did nothing when Mickey Renaud died in Windsor. It was practically the only one in the league not to make mention of the tragedy, and I emailed the team to let them know that, and that I thought someone was asleep at the switch, given that EVERY team wore a #18 patch the rest of the way.
Embarrassing that they did nothing. Sorry to rant now on the website, but Spirit fans deserve better!

Ok, since the topic was hijacked by negativity already, i'll attempt to bring it back.
I really like the icing change...that's been one of my favorite changes to the NHL, it seems like it's darn near impossible to get an icing and it really keeps play moving. I hope that the OHL linesmen actually use this rule because (since the NHL changed) i've really taken issue with the number of icings that are called at Spirit games. Looking forward to the new rule!

I like the icying rule change as well. I think it did a lot in the NHL to keep the flow going and helped to speed up the game. The other 2 rules are an attempt to give the attacking team better scoring opportunites after a whistle. Both seem fine with me and I can understand the reasons why they were added. I will have to see them in use before I can fully have a justified opinion of them. I am sure I'll be extemely happy to have them when they help out the spirit and completely hate them when they dont

At the game last night it did not matter if the penalty was before the whistle or after the whistle the faceoff still moved all the way to the penalized team's endzone.
When I read the rule I get that this happens only when a penalty is called after a whistle or the end of a period.
Can anyone clarify?

My interpretation is:
Offensive Zone Face-off:
(1) Penalty in normal course of play, called following a touch by the offending team anywhere on the ice (2) Single penalty called on a face-off, other than the start of a period or following a goal scored
Other than Offensive Zone Face-off:
(1) Penalty during the normal course of play, called due to an offside or icing on the non-offending team (2) Penalty called following the scoring of a goal (3) Penalty called before the start of a period or after the end of the period
