Sorry, I know this is wrong spot, but I did think on late notice more folks would see it.
Paul Bissonette will dress for Pittsburgh at home versus the Leafs...tonight...

Very cool!
He is wearing #67 & playing Left Wing for the Pens. He had a fight with Jamal Mayers close to the end of the 1st period. Now 6 minutes & change into the 2nd he gets a 10 minute misconduct - not a good way for the coaches to see him play, sitting in the box! 5 shifts so far & he has a 5 & a 10 to show for it. Ugh. I think this game will be shown on the NHL Network tomorrow morning at 6:30am.

Video of the Bissonnette vs. Mayers fight from tonight. Nothing major either way, Bis with the "takedown" if you want to call it that (he landed on top). Interesting what the announcers said... Bissonnette is "expected to fill the role that George Laraque performed for the Penguins last year". They don't really expect him to make the big club this year do they? www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhh9LTRuWc0

if you read some of the articles from last year...yes they do. We know (from watching Juniors) that Biss can skate and although he's a forward now, he can handle the puck from a control standpoint. Now that he's a goon, hahaha, he's the type of goon that teams want...toughguys that aren't a liability on the ice. Realistically he could end up on a line with Crosby or Malkin to offer them some protection. Let's see...Spirit to (arguably) the top line in the NHL...not too shabby!!!!

I heard that comment, but I'm pretty skeptical.
The Pens have 13 players on one-way contracts who they won't cut, and they added Matt Cooke, the former Spitfire, for some grit and all to replace Jarko Ruutu. Bissonnette might get a handful's worth of games, but only if there are significant injuries, is my guess.
He's not big enough to intimidate, as much as I admire his scrappiness. Desrosiers said at some point last week that he wished he'd been able to let Biss fight more, but he was way too valuable given the rest of his defence was so inexperienced or weak.
I'm sure Todd Watson can relate as he tries to keep Crawford and Comrie out of the box too often.

Pittsburgh also has Eric Godard, so Bis will have to split the infrequent ice time with him AND Cooke.

the one thing that Biss does that makes him a legit fighter in the NHL is his defense/grab. If you watch that fight vs. Mayers, he is in tight and is able to control Jamal who is one of the strongest players in the league. Boy, i still wish his attitude was better when he came back from Pengiuns pre-season that one year...i guess he was just transitioning into a goon

im so proud of paul. for those of you wondering about his fighting ability, understand he spent a lot of time under the wing of one dennis bonvie. paul could always fight, but I think bonvie definitely gave him some pointers. paul is a rare alent in that he can play the game too. fighting is what he needed to do to get noticed. to get his foot in the door. if he makes the team for sure, look for him to try and show what he can do aside from fighting.

Ok, well color me 'shocked' - a bit anyway.
Paul Bissonnette made his regular season NHL debut this past weekend, making the opening night roster for Pittsburgh! He played in both games over the weekend, altho he had very limited ice time (which is understandable for the 4th line). He played 4:13 (7 shifts) in the season opener & went -1, & played only 3:47 (4 shifts) in the 2nd game where he registered a shot on goal.
CONGRATS PAUL! Hopefully he sees even more ice time for Pittsburgh this season!
