Saginaw Spirit plan to continue using several play-by-play announcers during the current Ontario Hockey League season by Mark Constantine | The Saginaw News Wednesday October 01, 2008, 10:00 AM The search for someone to handle the play-by-play duties on the radio for the Saginaw Spirit continues, and it appears the search may not end for some time.
In fact, there's a chance Saginaw will use five men to handle the job this season and wait until the offseason to hire a full-time announcer.
"We haven't set a time frame," Spirit President and managing partner Craig Goslin said. "We, Richard Garber and myself, are going to take our time and get the right person for the community. We don't want someone here for a year and then be gone."
So far the Spirit have had Terry Doyle, Greg Brady and Ben Holden behind the microphone during the broadcasts on WTKQ-FM, 100.5, working alongside color commentator Dennis Desrosiers. Doyle, by the way, does work for the Ontario Hockey League as well radio broadcasts for the Sarnia Sting.
