Saginaw concludes its 3 game weekend road trip with a matchup against the Niagara IceDogs. The Spirit are currently 2-1-3 while the IceDogs are 4-1. Niagara has not played since Thursday night, so they'll be rested. The IceDogs currently have a couple players suspended, so hopefully we're catching them at the right time. Scott Fletcher was apparently not suspended for his blow to the head against an Ottawa player last week, so we'll have to keep our heads up when this goon is on the ice.
Go Spirit!!!

Not to mention that Matt Corrente is back with them--he of the BC 2 hander to the back of Ryan Berard's knees the last time we played them. (Which he was suspended for)

Spirit score to make it 2-1 Niagara. Ryan McDonough gets the goal.
Side note: The 2nd Niagara goal was a shorthanded goal...does anyone know how many shorties we have given up this year? Seems like a lot...

Niagara wins it 4-3. Adam Comrie scored his first ever OHL goal with 13 seconds left in the 3rd. All 3 of our goals came courtesy of the powerplay, but we gave up 2 shorthanded goals today. Final shots were 46-42 in favor of the Spirit. Our record now stands at 2-2-3 after a 0-1-2 road trip. As a young team we're making good progress, just not quite there yet.
Next up for the Spirit is a road tilt against the Greyhounds next Friday night, followed up with a home game against Barrie on Saturday.

So, was there any bad behavior by either of our former Spirit "naughty boys" Matt Corrente and Scott Fletcher?? I'm guessing there wasn't otherwise people would have already commented about it. I just wanted to confirm one way or the other.

I don't believe Corrente played--Knowles said it must have been a game-time decision because he was in the warmups. Fletcher chased Mursak around for awhile, but that was about it. They will be in Saginaw 10/28, so all the home fans can come out and see them then............

I was told that Corrente got a call to report to Lowell being NJ called up a player. I have researched this and cant find a thing so im thinking its not true however if it is you heard it here.

This can't be correct unless there is some special exemption that I do not know about. Corrente is a 19 yr old (88 birthday) so he either plays in the NHL or major junior this season.

The OHL on line scoresheet shows that Muravich got into a scrap in the 3rd period. Any idea how he fared??

Muravich's fight was with Niagara's NCAA defector Agozzino (UMass-Lowell). The two of them are about the same size. Knowles didn't say hardly anything on the radio except that Muravich "handled himself OK" in his first OHL fight. johnt or someone who was there--any more details?? SSF, 10/28 will be a day we will all miss you at the rink.
