Per Watson on hockey show, Combs has rejoined the team and will practice tomorrow.

Watson also said that Jack had a good camp, but they thought he would be better served by one more yr in junior. Make it a great one Jack, and right back at 'em next year. Welcome back.

That was rumor #2, and I'm sure with the area coaches meeting tonight rumor #1 will be common knowledge by 10 o'clock tonight....

I think that's great, but... Combs has asked for a trade. They will grant his request. Date to be determined. It's the right thing to do for Jack, and it's the right thing to do to build for the future..

Not sure where newguy got his info, however its dead on. My source: Jack Combs himself. However, he did tell me he has not asked for a trade yet, however in the very near future he will.
It's only fair for him to move onto a team that is a contender and make his last year his best.

people, people...everyone's getting excited here and there's a couple things you need to remember:
1) DO NOT make this board a source of information for Mark Constantine. He has done the hockey team ZERO favors, constantly has errors in his columns, and is an obvious reader of this board and the noob. If you want to post a rumor of something fine...we all know who the legit posters are on here who have legit sources...don't make yourself an "unnamed source" for a bad beat writer.
2) Jack Combs has not played one game for us yet this season. He is going to (hopefully) do two things for us this season. One, get us a bunch of goals/assists which hopefully translate into a bunch of wins. Two, he is going to get traded at some point during the season to a contender and get us a butt-load of talented young players that should make up the difference of neither of our draft picks reporting.
This is what Michael Scott of the office calls a Win-Win-Win scenario. Here are the (potential) wins:
1) We get a 100pt scorer to hopefully get us in position to make the playoffs. 2) We trade to get value for future years 3) Jack gets to play for a contender and hopefully make the Memorial Cup
I don't doubt any of your sources that talk about a potential trade...even without the comments it would eventually make itself an obvious situation due to our (most likely) position in the standings and his status as an OA.
But remember folks, your sources and knowledge are GOLD...let's just not make a bad writer rich!

Thank you, ohlfan06.
I'd like to invite all the people over who questioned my credibility from the get-go and who sent such nasty, childish messages to a big party.
I was thinking of hosting it at the Dow, but it doesn't hold more than 5500 people.
I have pledged not to post anything on here that I haven't confirmed in one way or another. Those that read the talking points from Spirit management are always welcome to question me, but admitting when you're wrong is always an impressive thing. So far, only a couple have. When I'm wrong, I'll be the first to tell you, and even though I wasn't here last year posting, I was certainly wrong about the team making the playoffs.
The question will become -- is it really a good thing to make the playoffs if you can't challenge to get to the 2nd round. They're desperate for an impact player -- and you can much more easily get that drafting in the Top 3, than drafting 10th or 11th.
I never advocate tanking, and players won't buy into it. But they should consider selling assets during the season more than they ever have before. And getting the very little they got the 1st year for George Halkidis and Chris Thorburn, and then in the 2nd year, not getting squat for Geoff Platt (don't start...) and getting zilch for Nick Lees, because they kept him...well, those all were reasons the team missed the playoffs their 3rd year. They do ANY of the above right, and they were good enough to be a playoff team.

If he wants out, trade him now. Don't wait until later in the season. Get value for him now and insert those players into the lineup right now. What if he gets hurt tomorrow night, blows a knee, and is out for the remainder of the season? Everyone on this board likes to rip people when they don't do something, so do it now and get it over with. If he goes down, then that will allow everyone free reign to say how Watson screwed up by not trading him earlier. Is his value any more if he plays for us for 20 games and does what he did last year? What if plays 20 games and scores 0 goals? Now what do we get for him?
Everyone said we should trade our assets when they are at their highest value, well to me that's right now. Not next week, month, or at the trade deadline. But I know, he wants to be able to pick where he goes. But he wants to be traded, he doesn't get to choose when or to whom. If he's such a good guy, which I believe he is, he wouldn't put the team in that situation. He saw it last year with Asselin, and we don't need that to come up again.

My thoughts exactly, whats the sense in holding on to a player who's heart isn't in it for this team? Everyday they play another game or another day goes by their stock drops so why not just trade Jack and while theyre at it trade Ryan Daniels, since his stock is dropping drastically. If he doesn't come back once again our team looks like a joke and gets nothing in the end. Should've traded him a long time ago, especially when interest in him was very high. Lets not risk the chance to get quality players for Jack.

Well, we are all going to get to see what kind of GM Todd Watson really is by the way he ends up handling the Combs situation. Should be real interesting to see how this all plays out.
I understand the previous comments about trading him now before an injury, etc. but the flip side is that it's still early in the season and many teams really don't know yet if they are going to be buyers or sellers until we get closer to the January 10th trade deadline. The only teams that would be interested in dealing right now are those teams that think they have a shot to go for it this season AND know they need another big scorer to give them a chance. What teams fit that description and who/what picks would they be willing to give up??

Not sure where newguy got his info, however its dead on. My source: Jack Combs himself. as someone who has known a lot of players over the years, I can tell you now with absolute certainty that it isn't always wise to go posting things that the players tell you. im not trying to give you a hard time, but if combs wanted his thoughts made public, he wouldn't be going through you as his way of letting everyone know.

that's a fair point and i respect it...
but perhaps some of us are looking out for jack combs because we know and like him, and this may expedite the way out to a contender for him. he deserves it this year. not a soul will think less of him for wanting to play somewhere else...
yes -- it was during the DEDs (Darth Edwards Days) - but Patrick Asselin was jerked around, lied to, deceived, made captain against his will as a way of pressuring him to back off on his trade request which was given to the Spirit in April...before Mancini and crew were even fired.
While I think the organization is clearly more honorable and less odious (though not completely reptile-free...), I'd hate to see the same thing happen to Jack Combs.
Besides, you pronounced "he's here for the remainder of the year". not "i think". not "i hope". i was trying to correct a factual inaccuracy, because your implication is you KNOW this. I have it on good authority he'd love to play elsewhere for a contender. And he has a list. This isn't putting Combs in an awkward position at all.
