If you are looking for good signs, the Whalers lost to Kingston on OT last night. We don't need to worry about at least one of the Whaler goons, as Yovonik has been traded to London. Being Plymouth, though, I'm counting on them having a few left. Chris Terry is starting to hit his stride, as is AJ Jenks (another "favorite" Whaler) Jeremy Smith is always formidable in goal. Out on a limb--I say the Spirit sweep the weekend and send the Whale back to Plymouth having felt Saginaw's wrath. 4-2 Spirit.

My guess is Pasquale plays as he's been strong the last two games!

agreed but he has to play Lepera at some point or if he doesn't trust him than go get another back up. Pasquale can't play everygame

My guess is Pasquale plays as he's been strong the last two games! If Lepara is healthy, he should get the start. This is, afterall, the third game in 2 1/2 days and the perfect place to get the back up some ice time. This is the first weekend of three games so I don't think too much about Lepara not starting prior to this. On weekends where you only have two games, your starting goalie is going to get both of those games most of the time. It's not like last season where Eddie got a lot of starts against East teams because he was more familiar with them. Lepara is a very capable goalie and I expect to see him in net today.

I absolutely agree with this but I don't think it's going to happen. I don't know why but i think we'll see Eddie again. Any word on the Petes goalie that came in for a try-out?

Pasquale is in net today. Currently 2-2 early in the 3rd. Saginaw did lead 2-0 at one point.
Attendance is 2708.

Congrats on the team for a weekend sweep.
Someone now gets their carpets cleaned.
That's what she...never mind...
I'm real happy to see that the dark cloud lifted from over this entire organization has led to some sunshine.
I'm also happy they finally saw the light. The greatest mistake you can make in a business like the hockey business, is not correcting an initial mistake. This team screwed up big-time in hiring Donkey. They remedied the mistake 16 months later. I tip my hat to ownership and to Todd Watson for getting this change made, no matter the slings and arrows that were going to follow.
I'll say it again, though those whose relevance and credibility were damaged greatly through their flag-waving for Edwards will play their self-important, woe-is-me games, all any of us want is a winner. We all just have different opinions on what can bring such a thing.

A wild week for the Spirit, especially off the ice, ends with a 3-2 win over Plymouth, which puts us 3rd in the conference early on in the season. Next week we get 2 games at home against Barrie, a solid opponent, and the Niagara IceDogs, who are kind of down this year, but still feature our old "friend" Scott Fletcher.

Spirit had just enough more left in the tank than Plymouth to pull this one out. I like the top two line combos--Combs and Skellett fit right into place on them. Third and fourth lines look pretty solid too. Eddie saved our bacon a few times, especially in the second period after the Whalers scored w/ 15 seconds to go in the first. TJ Brodie has taken HUGE steps since last year. His passing game has markedly improved, as has that of Jack Combs. Very solid weekend for the boys--tonight to enjoy it, and then get ready for next weekend!!

great weekend this is a different team than I have ever seen here in saginaw.
All I expect to hear from certain people is that they were wrong for saying watson can't do this job as well as mancini when this team ends up more successful than that team was because I think it will happen.

Watson was NEVER my problem, ac. Only Edwards. My own personal preference, with ANY sports team, is to have the coach and GM be two different people. Checks and balances, if you will. But that is only a personal preference, and there are a lot of people who have been very successful doing both.

I know sf8 I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to someone else because he made this claim earlier.

OK, we're cool, then.
New point--now that Pasquale has officially played all 3 games this weekend, it's apparent that we aren't going to see Lepera unless something really bad happens. Havng heard nothing more about the Petes' guy that was here for an "audition" last weekend, I'm assuming he didn't measure up either. So is there a back-up goalie in the league that might be available--anyone have any thoughts?

I don't run and hide if I'm wrong about something, ac. You know that, I think. If this team wins two playoff games at least with far less talent, I'll be the first to bow down before you. But long-term, Watson being both isn't the answer.
