Sounds like quite the back & forth game... Spirit started out with a 2-0 lead, gave up 2 late in the period to make it 2-2 at the break. Niagara scores 2 quick in the 2nd, Lepera gets pulled, Spirit score 2 more, makes it 4-4 at the end of 2. Combs with 4 assists, Crawford with 3 assists, Chappell with 2 goals... Spirit are 3 for 5 on the Power Play so far. VERY nice to see the Spirit staying out of the box, only one penalty, that to Allicock for a fight in the 1st. Other than the offsetting fighting majors there, 0 penalties for Saginaw, 6 minors for Niagara. Sounds like a sloppy game, but tied up going into the 3rd, hopefully the boys can get it together in the 3rd & pull out the win. That's too bad for Lepera....but that's probably a "career" for him in the OHL.
You don't NOT play a kid for 29 days and then play him and pull him after 4 goals if you have any confidence that he can play capably in the league.
Another misstep by the handlers of last year's draft....Garber/Goslin/Haliburton. He's just not an OHL goalie...it's completely obvious to Watson, and I'll trust his judgement and that's why he's been looking so hard to find another one..
Those advocating for Lepera to get his "playing time" will now need another drum to beat of interest.

Niagara has NOT had a power play in this game.
Saginaw's had 6 of them..including a 4 minute powerplay and a 5 on 3. 5-on-5, we are not in Niagara's class tonight. The 3 PP goals are keeping us in it.
I wonder when the last time was a team LOST a game in the OHL without giving up a powerplay opportunity. Extremely rare.
AND....forget that, because Probie Allicock just took one of the dumbest penalties in franchise history watching online. That's super.
Also *** Who's doing the game on the radio, I just switched. Definitely not Leigh Cunningham. Not bad. But certainly not Ficcarellian.

Guy calling the gmae is Terry Lenz formerly of WSAM and WSGW, and the in house announcer at some of the home games. Just a stop gap until Leigh gets here.
