Peluso tied it up for the Hounds late in the 2nd period. Deuces are wild. It's 2-2 after 2 periods.

there was no slewfooting this night. szwarz took down peluso and it looked like a clean takedown to me. then again it was at the other end of the ice so maybe I missed something. I just don't see szwarz slewfooting anyone.he's always been a clean player.

Chappell and Sanderson have scored to give the good guys a 4-2 lead. What a great time for Sanderson to get his 1st goal of the season.
The boys need to keep their cool and stay out of the box.

The Hounds scored late to make it 4-3. Pleckaitis was awarded an empty net goal when he was hauled down from behind with about 1 minute left and the Soo goaltender on the bench. Saginaw wins it 5-3. Nice homestand so far. Now it's time to go stick it to the Whalers at Compuware Arena next Friday night. Anyone making the trip down??

Slew Footing, that was a first for me, I never heard of that. From what I saw, it appeared they were face to face and Szwarz put him on his backside. Anyway, I thought that ref sucked he was the same blind idiot from the night before.

Great game. The Swarz penalty looked like a clean hit to me, and it was right in front of us. I thought the reffing was terrible, as is expected when Reid is on the ice. Plekatis' hit (check of the game) was AWESOME. It was RIGHT in front of us, and was just a perfect hockey hit. I was shocked there was no penalty called on it, because half the time when someone gets laid out at center ice anymore, they call it, but they did not.
Chappel's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was a joke, and by that I mean he should be smart enough NOT to take that penalty. I'm sorry, dude, but you're the CAPTAIN, you should NEVER take an unsportsmanlike penalty. He did get roughed up in the corner, and had every right to be upset, but check the guy on the next play, don't pull him down to the ice from behind like that. There is no way a ref CAN'T call that penalty. He made up for it with the goal out of the box though.
Every Spirit goal tonight was a pretty one. The Soo ones never should have been let in, as they were all pretty weak.
In my opinion, the Hounds played very flat-footed tonight, and while our guy played really well, had the Soo actually tried the outcome would have been closer.
Saw great play out of everyone. Allicock is no longer impressing me now that he's not fighting. He's not a great player, and should simply be the enforcer as far as I'm concerned. Underwood is great on defense, but he can't seem to get close to the net when shooting from the blue line. Fortunately, he didn't take many shots from there and played very well. Murovich is FUN to watch. My wife said tonight that he's "scrappy," and that is a very accurate description. He never stops fighting for the puck, and generally comes up with it.
Again, great game, and love the team we have right now. I think we might be able to do something this year. Make some noise, since no one is expecting it.
Thanks again for all the congrats. We went to Traverse City for our honeymoon, and hated it, hence us coming home early. haha.

Anyway, I thought that ref sucked he was the same blind idiot from the night before. From the OHL Rule Book: Rule 86 Slew Footing A match penalty shall be imposed on any player who fouls an opponent by slew footing. (Note 1) Slew footing shall be defined as the act of using a leg or a foot to deliberately upend an opponent from behind by knocking one or both skates out from under him or pushing an opponent's upper body backward with an arm or elbow and at the same time with a forward motion of his leg, in such a manner that it shall cause his opponent to trip or fall. Have only seen this called a couple of times, the last being when Pat Asselin was slew-footed (and injured) early last season in Peterborough. Also, I learned something tonight. When Joe Pleckaitis was hauled down from behind late in the game and the puck didn't go in the net, Saginaw was awarded a goal. Reason a goal was awarded was because the goalie had been pulled. If he was still in the game, a penalty shot would have been awarded.

johnt, what did you think of the slew footing call on Szwarz?? Did he deserve it or not??

Based on the definition of slew footing, Swarz did appear to push the player backwards with his arm, and I could not see his legs from my position, therefore it is very possible that he was guilty of this and that it was a good call.

Hey ya'll- Just wanted to drop a line that we thought tonight was a pretty solid game. Decent plays, barely any fighting (only two that I saw), and both goalies did great. The only thing we were bummed about was not getting the free slurpees DH and I took my nephew, who's visiting from Florida, and he had an awesome time at his first Spirit game. I think I'll send down a T-shirt for him for Christmas just to tick my sister off ;D -teri-

johnt, what did you think of the slew footing call on Szwarz?? Did he deserve it or not?? SSF - we sit right at center ice, behind the penalty boxes. The incident occurred on our far side of the ice, just inside the blue line at the Zamboni end. I saw it happen, but there were bodies in the way, so I didn't get a real good look. I do know that the Hounds' player fell awkwardly. Referee who made the call (TJ Luxmore) was standing outside the zone. He should have had a great view of what took place.

Every Spirit goal tonight was a pretty one. The Soo ones never should have been let in, as they were all pretty weak. Not sure which Soo goals you're referring too. I didn't think any of the goals scored by the Soo were bad. The last was a PP that looked to have a very good screen in front of Pasquale (Defense?), and one other deflected off a body to the Soo player on the other side of the net for an easy shot, and the remaining goal also was deflected in. So I don't see any of the goals as weak. I think that Pasquale's game has really picked up since mid-October and he's not letting in weak goals.
