I saw allicock get hammered on the ice and I think he was feeling the effects of the solid hit last night. I saw him sitting with his head down quite a bit on the bench. He's been playing quite well offensively and has been doing great on the PK. IMO he is improving and getting stronger each game. There was no need to fight last night as we were leading throughout.

I wasn't blaming Pasquale for the Soo goals, I agree he was very solid and seems like he's improved a lot since last year. But it DID seem like our guys were standing around on all three goals. Either way, it was the only time I saw them standing around last night.
About the reffing, it reminds me, there was a tripping call on Chappell, I think in the second period. It happened in the corner. The ref that was right there didn't call it, but the ref that was on the opposite end of the ice did call it. I don't know how it could have been tripping, because Chappell was no where near the Soo player's feet. All I could think of when that call was made was Mickey Redmond complaining during a Wings game "How could the guy on the opposite end of the ice call that penalty when the guy right there didn't see it?" haha.
I saw some weak calls last night, against both teams, and saw several that SHOULD have been called too. So I guess it evened out...?

yeah you are right there were some pretty weak calls last night....this is a little off topic but i am very impressed with Skellett. We pretty much stole that kid from the Otters.

Skellett came with some baggage, but he's a teenager--it could have been something as simple as he and the new coach (Ftorek) not getting along. According to Otters' fans, he wasn't big on passing the puck, but I've got to say I haven't seen any of that here.

That could have been the case, but at their age, a move to another team can be the difference between night and day. a player thinks that the team was unhappy with his performace so he basically got fired, so with the new team he works harder, listens more and changes his attitude. Not saying this is allways the case, some kids are allways right!

I was right across the ice and didn't see Swarz's penalty - but I wasn't looking real close. A friend of mine (who knows hockey REALLY well) saw it and said that it was the correct call. If that is the case, we may not see Mr. Swarz for quite some time.

I looked at a slew foot on youtube, a couple of them actually. I swear I didn't see anything like that. I wonder if anyone has it on tape? I would really like to see it.

Erick et all "don't pull him down to the ice from behind like that" I was right there, and he did not pull the guy down .The guy fell back on his own. Really really bad call .

I think you are getting two penalties confused. The one I was talking about in that quote was Chappell's misconduct penalty, which I was watching very closely. He got roughed up in the corner, and retaliated by pulling the guy to the ice. It was a VERY appropriate call to make, and he deserved the two minutes. The slew-footing penalty for Swarz, I can't really comment on, because I saw the guy go down, but I didn't have a good view of it. Originally, I thought it was a good, clean hit, but I couldn't see their legs, so I can't really comment on it.

Here's a quote by Mark Constantine I caught in the paper tonight regarding the slew footing incident:
"Bad call: Jordan Szwarz was given a five-minute major for slew footing in Saginaw's win over the Soo, but a review of the tape shows the 17-year-old Spirit forward did not kick out the skates from behind of the Greyhounds' Anthony Peluso. Instead, a fresh Szwarz caught Peluso at the end of a shift and just hit him hard along the boards, sending the Soo forward to ice awkwardly. Normally, a slew-footing major results in an automatic one-game suspension, but the Spirit have sent a tape of the incident on to the league office in hopes of keeping Szwarz in the lineup."
Overall, I think the Spirit are doing phenomenal--12 wins out of 18 games is awesome, and a hell of a lot better than the Lions ;D

i don't know if the slew foot was a bad call or not but nothing has showed up on the OHL page for a suspension...maybe it's because the site was updated but a slew foot is probably at least 3-5 games. I think someone got 10 earlier in the season but i may be wrong. edit: it's a current suspension for Garrett Wilson of the Attack and he got 15 games but he also broke the ankle of Dan Kelly from the Rangers. www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=473950
