As per the Peterborough Petes Website:
The Peterborough Petes announced today that they have acquired overage goaltender Ryan Daniels from the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for a 4th round draft pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection.
Daniels, a native of Ajax Ontario was a 3rd round draft pick of the Spirit in the 2004 OHL Priority Selection. He played in the 2006 Home Hardware CHL Top Prospects game and is a 5th round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators after being selected 151st overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Ryan is expected to be in Peterborough this afternoon for practice at 3:30pm.
Looks like a good trade for both teams. Good luck and make us proud Ryan!

that's pretty much the going rate for good OA's...glad we were able to get something for him!

I'm not sure what Peterborough is thinking here. They just dealt Trevor Cann to London and turn right around and trade for Daniels? I'm glad Watson was able to get a 4th round pick for him. My guess is that the Petes are not quite done making moves yet.

So has Daniels just been sitting around waiting to find a place to play?

For the last couple of weeks yes. Before that he was with the Atlanta Thrashers rookie tournament, in the AHL with Worchester, then in the ECHL with the Pheonix Roadrunners. Rumor has it he has been skating with a Junior club while awaiting a trade.

I respect your opinion but I disagree. Peterborough indeed did over pay for an OA tender 25% of the way through the season. Second daniels was prob 75-80% to blame for the loss in the playoffs 2 years ago. We had a stacked team and were better than soo that year however due to many soft goals and very inconsistant play by Daniels we lost. Had he played the way gajewski played the last 2 seasons we would have a series win under our belts. You may not like it but for the most part it is true. Plus he probably had most of his worst games against soo so their basing their judgement on what they saw and the bad daniels is what they usually saw.

2 seasons ago Daniels was 6 wins 2 losses against the Soo in regular season play. I believe this past year Daniels has some phenomenal games against the Soo at home and on the road as well.
So ac .. you can say what you want but your beloved offence scored 2 goals in 2 games on the road .. losing 2 - 1 and 3 - 1. So to speak Daniels wasnt the only player not to show up that series.

My guess is that the Petes are not quite done making moves yet. So do you think the plan is to move Daniels again? If so, interesting strategy...i know there wasn't a lot of demand for him yet especially since it's early and there haven't been any significant goaltending injuries.

I don't think there are many tears being shed over RD's departure. Can argue both ways on the playoff loss 2 years ago. That team was loaded, but mostly with older players. Fetching a 4th round draft pick wasn't too bad I guess. We'll see how it works out long term.
