end of 2nd. score is 2-2. bochek and svoboda with the spirit goals. great goaltending by both pasquale and engalage whom I have heard the wings are taking a good look at. good playoff atmosphere with a lot of hard hitting. greenop wants a dance partner bad, but there isn't anyone on the spirit for him to go with.

Tied at 3 currently in OT. Ryan Ellis just took a penalty for Windsor so Saginaw will be on a 4-on-3 PP.

WOW!! Those of you who missed this one missed one of the Spirit's all time greats. Any resemblance to the team that showed up to play in Plymouth last night was...was...well, I don't know what it was. Going against one of the top 2 teams in all of JR hockey, the Spirit gave 65 minutes of all out effort, and then took Windsor 14 rounds in a shootout before finally losing 4-3. The term "losing" is pretty inappropriate for tonight, though, for either team. On the game: Jakob Svoboda started on the top line with Combs and Chappell. (Skellett was apparently the sick guy last night as he did not dress. Also Allicock, who came to the aid of a teammate late in last night's game at Plymouth, got a 1 game suspension fro his trouble) But back to Svoboda. This was the player I had been waiting to see this season, as he always looked like he had it in him. Played physical, handled the puck well, scored a HUGE goal for the Spirit seconds after they had given one up, and in general was an absolute force. Way to go, Jakub! Although not as noticeable, Richard Jarusek also played a good game. Eddie was stellar in net, stopping 44 of 47 and 12 of 14 shootout attempts. He was clearly not happy to lose, as he was off the ice and down the tunnel before any teammates could get to him at game's end, but he was a rock. For Windsor, Engleage was solid in net and Taylor Hall showed why he's going to be a high pick come drafttime this spring. I don't think the Spirit took a single shift off tonight, not any of them. It was one of the most enjoyable games I've ever watched, at any level of hockey.

Thanks for the excellent summary sf8. I listened to the radio broadcast via the 100.5 FM audio stream and it sounded like a dandy. Wish I could have seen it. Cunnigham and Rosie make a nice broadcast tandem.

I had to laugh--listening to Cunningham and Rosie on the way home, Leigh sounded a little hoarse!! I guess even announcers get excited. Something I noticed about Chris Chappell tonight--several times he helped Svoboda be sure to be in the right spot for a faceoff, and also pointed out where to go after. I'm sure we all underestimate how very hard it is for Europeans to come over here to play, knowing nothing, including the language. Knowing JS was on a new line tonight, Chappell made sure he was headed in the right direction, and the results spoke for themselves. Something a good 'C' would do--kudoes to Chris.

Spiritfan8, you can thank me for the great game you got to watch. I chose to miss this game so I could attend the NOOF - A -Palooza in the Soo. I am sure if I had been there the Spirit would have been blown out. That's just the way my luck runs sometimes. By the way, Malarkey says hi.

Very excellent game by both teams last night!! My question is was I in attendance for a pieace of OHL history? What is the record for most shoot-out rounds in an OHL game? I just looked up the NHL and it's 15, but couldn't find the OHL record. Anyone have any idea?

agreed with the rest, great recap SF8...i was really glad to see Svoboda get a star last night...he has been playing very physical in every game and it was nice to see the hard skating produce some results last night...not only did he score, he created a number of good 1on1 chances for himself and got some good looks at the net. I bet if he learns english he'll turn into a pretty serviceable player!

Sorry, I have to ask a stupid question - why didn't Skellett play? I can understand why Allicock wasn't out there. I see nothing about suspensions on the Spirit or OHL websites. If I was Windsor I would be a bit concerned. Saginaw played them as tough as you can and almost won that game-without some of our best players in the lineup. I think Saginaw controlled the boards very well.

My son said I missed a great night of hockey, then smiled. I told him I heard it was one hell of a game. He said the game was fine but the fights in the stands were even more entertaining. Apparently some Windsor fan spilled his beer on a Spirit fan that sat right in front of him. SHE threw her beverage and popcorn back at him and then all hell broke out. In the end everyone was escorted out. DAMN, that's what I get for going hunting.

I had a front row seat for that, it was quite the fiasco, I even missed the tying goal because of it.
