Does anybody like the new start time of 4:00pm for Sunday games instead of 2:00pm ? I personally don't really care for it, I liked the 2:00pm start time way better. What was the reason for this? What does everyone else think? P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I believe for the most part it has to due with the teams coming in from Saturday night games out of town with a long drive and a bit more time before the Sunday games would start, better at 4pm then 2pm

Start times for Sunday games has been an issue in Saginaw for as long as I can remember. The minor pro teams that were here in the 90s tried several different Sunday start times, but none really stood out as the "best" and attendance was not very good with any of them.
IIRC, I was told by Spirit staff at the beginning of the season that they going to try the 4pm start on Sundays because the former 2pm starts didn't bring in acceptable crowds. They wanted to try another time to see what effect it would have on attendance.
FWIW, we kinda like the 4pm starts more than 2pm starts. You have more of the day for other activities.
If you have some thoughts as which time slot you feel is best, why not communicate them to the Spirit staff?

I thought they changed it so everyone could stay home and watch the Lions lose before coming to the Spirit game!! ;D ;D Sure, go ahead and laugh but that's exactly why the 4:00 time works better for us. I know the Lions suck but were still big football fans here.

I also like the 4pm starts, although it has nothing to do with the Lions.

The 2 pm starts cut up the day too much. I my case, we go the 11 pm service at our church (which is not far from the Dow) and by the time we get home to Freeland, we turn around and drive back to Saginaw for the game. Then back to Freeland for a few hours and back to a night function at church, though the night function is only twice a month. This way I get to spend my daylight hours working around the house or playing with my daughter and the evening "dark" hours watching hockey.

I would go to the games at either time regardless but I think that the 4pm is a nice change...i can go to church and then have a breakfast/lunch following (some weirdos may call this brunch ) and then like Sparky said, I don't have to rush down to the game breaking up the middle of the day. It's nice to go out and do yardwork or whatever knowing that you get to relax later in the day at a hockey game. Plus, the 4pm start gets you out of the game around 630 so it's a great time for a nice sunday dinner with the fam.

I really enjoyed the 2 pm start a lot better. It seems like you are waiting ALL day to go to the game, this way you could be there by 1 pm and get out a few hours later and still have the night to relax or go out and eat with other fans sooner after the game. Next thing you know, the games will start at 7 pm like the Gears did years ago!
