I finally had to turn this one off--the feed keeps cutting out more and more until I was missing more of the game than I was hearing. Spirit trail 4-2 after just taking 3 successive penalties. Adam Comrie got a game misconduct in the 2nd period (I missed what that was for) Goals by Crawford and Pleikaitis. Windsor is once again outshooting the Spirit at least 2-1. Anybody got more details than that??

That would be Harry Young, Windsor's good young--and big--D man, who is usually more than happy to oblige someone who wants to go. I think he and Chappell are about the same size.

Looks like Pasquale was the only reason we were even in the game. 48 saves on 52 shots (we had only 20 shots - odd to be outshot by 32 shots!).
Powerplay... Saginaw was 1 for 5 & Windsor was 2 for 11... ELEVEN POWER PLAYS! Looks like we could not stay out of the box again.

That was certinly my impression during the part of the broadcast I could hear. Some of them were pretty stupid ones, also...............and that's not even counting Comrie's game.

hello everyone,
I was in windsor tonight and the officiating was absolutely TERRIBLE. We really only had to touch a windsor player and a penalty was called. Windsor had many situations where a penalty should have been called and wasn't. Like a time when a windsor player was literally laying on eddie for 30 secs or more and no penalty. Very inconsistant, it was like we were playing two teams out there the spits and the zebras.
p.s. comries game was a result of the spirits displeasure with the officiating. btw watson also got a bench minor how often does that happen.

You don't get a game misconduct just for "displeasure w/ the officiating" unless it involves physical contact. The word out of Windsor is that Comrie spit on one of their players. If this is true, he might be looking at a suspension, as the league has come down on players for that in the past. The other thing Windsor is saying is that Harry Young went after Chappell because of a "cheap shot" from behind on Jacob LaLonde. Coincidentally or not, Young has just been named Windsor's new captain, as the NY Islanders have announced that Josh Bailey will not be returning to the OHL.

At the time I thought comries game was for saying something about the referees mama. But it is true that he spit on a spits player, my question however is how on earth did an official see this happen. It would have been a split second and if they saw spit on a players jersey it could have been done on his own.

I was in attendance for the game in Windsor, and I thought it was a pretty good game. Taylor Hall is an unbelievable player, and he controlled the action pretty much throughout the night. Saginaw competed for the better part of two periods, but it all came apart in the third. After Hall scored the 4th goal, the team just gave up. Harsh I know, but that is how I saw it.
I characterize the officiating as typical for the OHL. The best teams get the calls, especially in their building. There were some marginal calls, but all in all I say again, just typical OHL.
I will say I think Watson has to take some of the blame for what happened. Maybe someone should remind him about the team's ideal for the year of thinking about your actions and how they will impact your teammates. We had a power play in the 2nd, a chance to tie the game, and Todd gets a bench minor. How stupid was that. And we had been moving pretty well on the PP. Tick the refs off so they call everything on you in the 3rd. Real smart.
I can't comment on Comrie's situation because I simply don't know what happened.

It would have been a split second and if they saw spit on a players jersey it could have been done on his own. Not saying refs never miss anything (especially in the OHL) but this came at a break in the action when Comrie was already under inspection. In that type of situation, out of 4 officials, it's pretty likely one is going to catch it. It was dumb, and it cost the team. Not to mention spitting is a p**** thing to do. If you're Comrie's size, hit the guy. You'll get the same penalty, but not the same rep. "Spiritfan8's First Rule of Good Sportsmanship".......................

I was at the game in Windsor also. I disagree the Spirit gave up after Windsor scored the 4th goal. Pasquale continued to make dazzling save after save all night and Skellett hit the cross bar with about 4 mins left that would have made it 4-3.
The Spirit could not get control of the Windsor blue line after the 1st period, nor sustain any pressure in their zone. Windsor is a very good team yes, but I thought for the most part the Spirit were right with them and I think could give the Spitfires all they could handle in a 7 game series. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.
GO SPIRIT!!!
