Ehhhh I don't think any of the 3 goals were Eddie's fault. He is always square to the shooter, never seems unbalanced, and does not give up a lot of big rebounds. The first goal was a rocket and very well placed. As you mentioned, the 2nd he didnt' have a chance and even the 3rd was a bang-bang play. I am harsh on the goalies, but Eddie is the real deal.
GO SPIRIT!!!

How about this for an idea. Let's see how Paluso looks in a Spirit Jersey. Problem solved! Word on the street says he's available. Could be a nice addition. Saginaw has the skilled players in place but sure could benefit with some added toughness for a playoff run. I thinks it's worth looking into that's for sure. This is a great idea!!!!! He would definitely keep people from taking runs at our guys and he can skate...he's been to the prospects camp a few times and would be a definite asset to our team...Get er done Todd!

I'm torn on Allicock from last night...I was completely disgusted (maybe more than Rosie) after the game but i'll cut him a lot of slack after reading today that he's getting over an injury. However, what I don't understand is how he gets off with a shot to the head of a Soo player (with Peluso on the ice) and he doesn't have to answer the bell. If you're not planning on fighting, don't take cheapos at the other team. Maybe we're going to make a play for Peluso (as bpfox suggested) and we're trying to be nice to him so he'll come and play here

Maybe I had a bad angle on the "check to the head," but I thought it looked like he got him in the chest, not the head at all, and it was right in front of me. So personally, I thought that was a bad call. But I wasn't looking directly at it, so I might be wrong.

Again, i wasn't dissappointed at all knowing that allicock has a bad shoulder and why injure it more when we're leading in a game. I did however see him chirping the other team quite a bit including Paluso and doesn't seem to fear any player on that team. He has stood up to Paluso before and has stood up for his team throughout this season so why be dissappointed? If wearing a brace on his shoulder which is what i understand, again, he can't lift his arm high enough to hold anyone back. Apparently, his shoulder was completely separated but went back into place but still not strong enough to be held on his own without the support. It will take time to strengthen and don't blame him for not fighting and getting hurt. Just my opinion!

once again a reason why we need a tough guy.

Do we need a tough guy? Or do we just keep winning? I think we've got some tough kids on this team that can defend themselves when they need to, do we really need to waste space on the ice with someone who can fight but can't play?
Trust me, I love seeing the fights, and I've been pushing for a fighter to come to the Spirit for a while (ask DonJohnson), but right now it seems, at least to me, that it's not a big problem. I think we've got guys that will step up if someone takes a cheap shot.

eric...it's GOING to be a problem. Windsor has acquired Lane MacDermid (along with Greenop and Harry Young), it is expected that Plymouth is getting Fletcher and the Soo have Peluso. Going through a divisional schedule with those goons down the stretch could lead to some rough games...my opinion is that we need to acquire a legit heavyweight (like Jarram last year) that takes the pressure off of the skill/tough guys. Right now, our 2nd toughest guy is probably Chappell and the way he's scoring, we don't want him in the box for 5 minutes. I think Allicock would be better served as a good middleweight complement to an acquired heavyweight.
I'm really thinking about putting a seperate thread up about getting Peluso just incase Watson or G&G read this for a day

While I would love a legit heavyweight on the Spirit, another question at this point is 'who sits' in place of a goon? Everyone has been playing well, all the way down to players like Fillman, Jarusek & Svoboda, and with players like Allicock (who we know will take on the heavyweights, even if he doesn't fare so well) and then we have players like Szwarz, Sol, and others who will drop the mitts if need be. Granted, I think we'd prefer to keep players like Szwarz on the ice, but there is some toughness on the team that can handle the lightweights & middleweights. Kain can at least try & wrestle the heavy's down! haha! HEY! I'VE GOT IT! Maybe we could petition the league to let us dress an extra skater (a goon) instead of a backup goaltender, since we don't really use one anyway! ;D

While I would love a legit heavyweight on the Spirit, another question at this point is 'who sits' in place of a goon? ;D that's easy. fillman. sure he has had a couple ok games, but he is easily the least talented guy on the team. obviously having a tough guy doesn't hurt the team. if that was the case windsor wouldn't be where they are at.

I would sit kavanaugh before fillman. mitch likes to charge to net and he is a very fast skater I think hes very talented and will be one of the offensive mainstays in coming years.
