I can sense some of you folks getting frustrated and starting to panic. Stop it. Things are not as bad as you might want to think they are. October is going to be the hardest part of the schedule. The Spirit are playing every team tough. Do I wish they had more points? Sure I do, but with the exception of the 5 to 1 loss to the Soo, they have been in every game. Everyone predicted the Spirit would be a bottom feeder this season but that isn't the case. We should be happy about that. The Eastern Conference is not as weak this year as they were last year. We have loses to Niagara, Belleville and Peterborough so far. They just happen to be the top three teams in the East.
The bottom line here is Saginaw is losing to the teams you would expect them to lose to and beating the teams they should be beating. The schedule this season so far has been front loaded with all of the good teams in the league. Saginaw is a middle of the road team, way better in my opinion than a bottom feeder. As a middle of the road team you are supposed to beat the teams below you and lose to the teams above you. Not that they can't upset one of the higher ranked teams once in a while, but I am sure that's coming soon.
The bottom line here folks is it's a long season and the Spirit are doing ok. They may not be great, but did you really think they would be? If you keep things in their proper perspective the team is doing ok. Keep the faith. Peace.

Thanks SSF, just to further illustrate my point if I may.
Saginaw is ranked 5th in the Western Conference. 5th out of 10 is by definition a "middle of the road team".
Saginaw has played 12 games, 6 against Eastern Conference teams and 6 against Western Conference teams.
In the East they have won three and lost three. The three games they lost were to teams ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the conference. The three games they won were against teams ranked 6th, 7th and 9th.
In the West they have a record of 2 wins and 4 losses. The wins came against teams ranked 6th and 10th. The losses include 3 games against the Soo ranked #1 in the West, #1 in the OHL and #1 in the CHL, and Windsor ranked 3rd in the west.
These stats clearly show Saginaw is winning the games they are supposed to win. That said, they are also losing to the teams that should be beating them. If this pattern continues Saginaw should chalk up wins this week against Sarnia and Mississauga and lose Sunday to Niagara. I can live with that.

i have to agree .....still early and lots of time as well, i like new additions off the ice i think separating the coaching and gm duties will become the norm in the league over the next cpl of years (OHL big business now and coaches need to coach , while the gm does his thing)as well the new additons on the ice impress me as well , give it time patience will be the key
