After a tough loss last night, the Spirit are back in action tonight against the Mississauga St. Mike's Majors. The Majors are 6-4-1-0 on the season, good for 13 points and 4th in the Central Division. The Spirit are 5-5-2-1, also good for 13 points and tied for 4th in the Western Division. Saginaw won both meetings last year (when they were Toronto St. Michael's) in convincing fashion.
I've also noticed that in the media wires there has been no mention of the disallowed goal incident last night. Hmmmm...

Saginaw wins 6-1. Williams and Combs notch goals in the 3rd period. Daniels with a solid performance in net tonight. Final shots were 30-22 in favor of the Majors. Saginaw was 3/4 on the powerplay while Mississauga was 0/8. Another stat worth mentioning is that we're averaging 5.75 goals per game over the past 4 games.
The Spirit will welcome Scott Fletcher and the Niagara IceDogs tomorrow afternoon at the Dow. Niagara lost to Plymouth 4-1 this evening.

Daniels with a solid performance in net tonight. However, Daniels still lets in the soft goal and that is why shutouts elude him.

binque...one soft goal is a heck of a lot better than the many soft goals Bus let in on Friday. So instead of criticizing Daniels' give him a little credit, he played well and ALSO brought us home the win.
So I'll be another one to say good game Ryan, lets do it again tomorrow.

Im sorry was the goal even that bad? Costly turn over, guy left wide open and they score ...
After the way the spirit played tonight, special teams domination and everybody contributing to a win ... all you have to say is Daniels let in a soft goal and thats why he doesnt get a shut out?

Tonight's attendance is 3745. G & G have to be concerned about the attendance!! The team has been on the road all month and they don't even break the 4000 mark. And for anyone that wants to use the high school football excuse all of the local teams played their opening round playoff games last night.

michigan had an afternoon game as well against Minnesota which many marginal wolverine fans would have access to tickets to and that probably many of our "walk-up" crowd.
Fights:
Allicock - Rinaldo Both threw some pretty decent shots, neither seemed to have a good hold on the other. Rinaldo landed the best shot but Allicock got the takedown so I call it a DRAW.
Brodie - Billingsley Brodie makes a move to the net (and there had already been a bunch of cheap frustrated shots at this point) and he ends up in the net. Billingsley starts cross checking him before he can get up and then just drops em and starts throwing uppercuts before Brodie knows whats happening. I think Brodie finally got his gloves off eventually which got him his 5. Decision - NO CONTEST
Allicock - Gaunce Man, Allicock just loves to fight. This was the 2nd fight at the same time so they both got game misconducts. Pretty even scrap this time, although Allicock got the better shots in. No takedown and as much as i'd like to give the edge to Allicock, i have to give it a draw.
J. McDonough - Neuber It was going ok for like 15 seconds and then Neuber connects on a massive uppercut that KO'd McD and he went down. What was complete BS!!!!!! was that Neuber threw two big shots once McD was obviously out cold and that may have concussed him. The trainer which we don't have from another thread was out immediately and another player jumped the boards to help get McD off the ice because he had no clue where he was and definitely couldn't skate. We needed a heavy to take out Neuber after that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what i have heard of Allicock he is not known to be a fighter and I would assume as a rookie in the OHL he is trying to earn some ice time or prove he can play a physical game. I wouldn't think it's easy coming into the OHL and proving yourself as a rookie. Apparently and from what I saw of him this kid has a lot of potential to be an effective player at this level and wish him luck. I like this kid and glad to see him in Saginaw.

McDonough was clearly out after the upper cut. He dropped to his knees only being held up at all because Neuber was still holding his jersey before Neuber landed his 2 extra shots.
