GAME 1: Wednesday, September 9 at Great Lakes - 7:05pm
GAME 2: Thursday, September 10 at West Michigan - 7pm
*GAME 3: Friday, September 11 at West Michigan - 7pm

This is the first time Great Lakes have ever qualified for the postseason, and are facing the West Michigan Whitecaps in the first round. The Loons won the regular season series 10-9.

The Loons won the first game of the series over the Whitecaps 7-2 at Dow Diamond. Great Lakes outhit West Michigan 12-3 and can sweep the series with a win tomorrow in Grand Rapids.

Well tonight's game was almost the exact opposite for Game 1, as West Michigan stormed back to life to beat the Loons 7-0 in Game 2.

A winner-take-all Game 3 will be played Friday night at West Michigan, with the winner advancing to the 2nd round which would begin on Saturday.

The Great Lakes Loons have advanced to the 2nd round of the 2009 Midwest League Playoffs, beating West Michigan 3-2 in 10 innings in the decisive Game 3. The Loons blew a 2-0 lead midway through the game and got out of a bases loaded, 1 out jam in the bottom of the 9th inning to force extra innings, where Jaime Pedroza hit a solo homerun to put the Loons up for good.

Great Lakes will face Fort Wayne in the next round in a Best of 3 series. Game 1 is Saturday at Dow Diamond.
