The Great Lakes Loons won Game 1 of the best of 3 series against the Fort Wayne Tincaps in bizarre fashion, 11-10 in 11 innings.
The Loons found themselves down 4-0 after 2 innings, but scored 2 in the 4th and 2 in the 5th to tie it up. Fort Wayne then added 2 more in the 7th, but the Loons quickly responded with 2 of their own in the bottom half of the inning to tie it 6-6.
The score would remain tied heading into the 9th inning, but Fort Wayne exploded for 3 runs in the top half of the 9th to take a 9-6 lead. But in the bottom half of the 9th, Jaime Pedroza (who hit the game winning homerun the previous night to help eliminate West Michigan) smacked a 3-run shot to tie it 9-9. Fort Wayne added another run in the 11th to go up 10-9, but the Loons put together one final rally and scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to win it 11-10.
The teams will play Game 2 today at 5:05 down in Fort Wayne. A Loons victory will make them Eastern Division Champions and give them a spot in the Midwest League Championship Series.

I was at the game in Fort Wayne yesterday and it was apparent very early that it wasn't going to be the Loons day. Blevins didn't have his best stuff and Fort Wayne just looked like a team on a mission.
On an unrelated note, if you ever get a chance to get to Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, I would highly recommend it. That is a major league caliber stadium. It is a little larger version of Dow Diamond but with the Treetop seating and the way the outfield wall opens up to the skyline of Fort Wayne, it is beautiful.

The Loons saw their season come to an end tonight in Fort Wayne, falling 4-3 in a wild 10 inning affair. Great Lakes had several scoring chances and took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th, but a 2-out rally in that inning by the TinCaps tied the game, before hitting a walkoff homerun in the 10th for the victory.
Tough loss, but a nice season nonetheless.
