Erie is gonna being hurting in physicality with tough guys Marchment and MacDermid both suspended for the Hounds-Otters series. I'm rooting for the Hounds because we have many friends up there and IMHO they have more depth.
DJ - you can always spend $6.99 CDN and watch games on OHL Livestream. Feeds this year are better than in previous seasons.

I'm not going to pay to watch them but I would definitely tune in if it was on TV. I don't get the NHL network anymore because I now have uverse but I used to check it out every once in a while when I was a charter subscriber

Barring big comebacks, it looks like we'll have Oshawa vs. North Bay in the East Final. Both have a 3-1 series lead against Niagara and Barrie, respectively.

Recap time: Round 1, Game 1 Saginaw gives up 5 goals to the Soo. Round 2, Game 1 Guelph gives up 7 goals to the Soo. Round 3, game 1 Erie gives up 6 goals. Based on what's happened so far, the Spirit did real well in their first round playoff match up with the Soo. This young Spirit team is only going to get better. That starts tomorrow. See you all at Rookie Camp.

Well the winning streak for the Soo is over. They finally lose a game. On another playoff note, North Bay beat Oshawa by a score of 6-1, 4 of the 6 North Bay goals were scored by former Spirit players. Ray Huether, Zack Bratina and two by Nick Moutrey.

Game 5 of the East Finals is tonight; Oshawa and North Bay are tied at 2 games apiece.
Elsewhere, two of the Memorial Cup participants are official. The Quebec Remparts, this year's hosts, will be squaring off against the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL Final, meaning Rimouski gets an automatic bid in the tournament.

Erie clinched the Western Conference title last night with a 7-3 win over the Hounds. I told some people that this Erie team is the best team I've seen since the Windsor back to back memorial cup teams. I know they didn't have the best record, but just watching them...I've never seen a team that fast and that dangerous. As good as the Soo was, they never scared me like the Otters did. Once they added those depth pieces it was game over for the league. I believe the East will have to wait ANOTHER year to try and win the OHL title.

Oshawa wins the Eastern Conference title today with a 2-1 victory over North Bay in Game 6. So it will be Oshawa vs. Erie in the OHL Final, and Oshawa will have home-ice advantage.

So much for my confident prediction of Erie being undermanned for the Soo series. I watched 2 of the games (THANK YOU, NHL Network!!!) and Erie was absolutely dominant. The Soo didn't help themselves any by continually taking dumb penalties, either. (You have to wonder how they are thinking about the Anthony DeAngelo trade in hindsight...) On paper, the Hounds were a better team. On the ice, it was no contest.

DeAngelo was probably my most disliked player in the OHL the past two seasons. Great player, but absolutely NO discipline at all, trash talker, etc. Tampa Bay is going to have to reel him in if he wants to have a long NHL career.

Not saying I disagree with this, but D'Angelo was voted the OHL D-Man of the year. I figure if Steve Yzerman drafted him, there must be more to him (or maybe less to him) than we see.
